About Rspca Keighley, Craven & Upper Wharfedale

We are a local, independently run RSPCA branch covering the Keighley & Craven District plus over 350 miles of the rural Craven dales. RSPCA Keighley, Craven & Upper Wharfedale, Registered Charity No. 232237

Rspca Keighley, Craven & Upper Wharfedale Description

Our branch is a local, independently run branch covering almost 350 square miles of the rural craven dales. Towns and villages served by the branch include Ilkley, Keighley, Skipton, Barnoldswick, Slaidburn and Settle, Haworth & Grassington.

Our branch is run entirely by volunteers, ranging from a team of locally elected trustees along with the support of a team of branch volunteers. The branch is almost completely self financing which means that we rely on donations from the public and businesses within our area, all the donations we receive help to continue with our vital work within the branch area.

Our animal welfare work includes re-homing cats and dogs in branch care, fundraising and raising the profile of animal welfare issues.

Running a branch is obviously very time consuming and our volunteers help us with a range of tasks from fostering animals to answering the phone, from fundraising events to dog walking and administration tasks. Without the help of all our volunteers the branch would not be able to operate, we always need more people to join us and help the branch. Could you spare some time for us? You can find out more on volunteering with us on the branch website.

Thank you for taking the time to visit and we hope to see you again soon.

We are still looking for a local foster home for our lovely girl ‘Fern’. If anyone can help her, please send us a message or contact us via email. We would love to hear from you. 🐶 🏠

We are looking for a very special foster home to help our lovely little lady ‘Fern’. She is approximately 6-7 years old and is a whippet/terrier cross. She came from a bad home and had some issues but these have been worked with and we are now seeing a vast improvement which is why we are now trying to find a foster home as the next positive step forward for her. Fern needs someone who is dog experienced, without children or other animals and who is at home most of the time.... She is a lovely little girl and is very clean in her kennel. You would need to keep detailed notes of her behaviour to help with her ongoing behaviour assessments and follow the training advice given as well as ensuring she takes her medication. The medication is to help with her anxiety & when the time comes to stop the medication it it would be thoroughly discussed with the behaviour specialist overseeing her case. Fern loves her walks but also loves being snuggly by someone’s side. She is a lovely, friendly little girl who just needs a special someone to give her a chance, we would be on hand to offer full support alongside the staff at our kennels. All expenses would be covered including any mileage for travel. We do need to have a foster carer who is local to our area and of course you would be able to meet Fern at the kennels and the staff would discuss what training they have been doing with her. All the staff at Rspca Lancashire East adore Fern and she is often found on a big comfy bed, overseeing reception and enjoying all the attention she is shown. We know there are a lot of boxes to tick but she really is worth it and we are sure that the person to help her is out there somewhere, we just need to find you! Please contact us if you can help and please share to help increase our chances of finding a foster home. Thank you. 🐶

Diesel is a 4 year old bull mastiff cross, he is a big bundle of loveliness who has a very friendly nature and lots of love to give. Diesel is good around other dogs but he can be overly playful so we would recommend a home where he is the only resident dog, due to his size and playfulness he would also be better with older secondary school age children. He is a big strong boy and will need new owners who can handle him on the lead. To find out more about Diesel, please visit our website for his full wording and pictures. rspca-craven.org.uk

Dusty is a lovely 2 year old tuxedo male cat who is still looking for his new home. He is a very friendly boy who loves to play and to snuggle (as you can see from the picture) he will even paw the foster carer if he doesn’t feel he has been shown enough attention. Dusty loves to be warm and has been known to sleep on top of the fire place and even cuddled in bed with a hot water bottle - this boy certainly loves his home comforts. Dusty will be happier being an only cat in his new home. Could you offer him a special place in your heart? He will make a lovely addition to anyone’s home.

Could you offer a local temporary foster home for any of our cats? We always have waiting lists miles long and the more foster carers we have means the more cats we can help. We cover ongoing costs such as food and vet bills, all you need to provide is your time and lots of tlc. Please send us an email if you would be interested in helping us. Please also share the post with anyone who you think would be interested in becoming a foster carer. We would like to help even more cats this year but we really need your help to do this. Thank you. 🐈

Ripley & Mitzy came in together but they are young enough (15 months old) to be re homed separately - we realise how hard it can be to find an new home for two cats together. Mitzy is the calmer of the two but she is very loving and friendly. Ripley is very active and loves to play, she would suit a family home where there are plenty of people to play with her. Both cats are really lovely and deserve their forever home to come along soon. Could you offer either cat (or maybe both) a new home? You can find further wording and pictures on our website: rspca-craven.org.uk

‘Flo’ was adopted from us earlier this month and here she is checking out the Christmas decorations - we have a feeling that the tree won’t be upright for too much longer! Happy Christmas everyone, hope you’ve all had a great day. 🎅🏻🎄

We have another lovely, cuddly chap who is looking for a new home. Meet ‘Tiddles’ who came to us after his elderly owner was seriously ill and could no longer care for him. He is around 5 years old and it’s obvious he has been well cared for as he loves attention and being stroked. This poor boy must be wondering what has happened to his past life but we are sure that someone will want to offer him a second chance and a forever home soon.

Jemima is a gorgeous girl aged approximately 8 years old who was sadly dumped outside an RSPCA centre! She has been fully health checked and is fine to be re-homed. Jemima is a total attention seeker and just loves to be fussed and stroked, she would need an owner who will groom her regularly to keep her lovely coat in top condition. We would love to find Jemima a quiet home with an owner who can show her lots of love and attention. Could that be you? Please visit our website to find out more about Jemima and all our other lovely cats who are looking for new homes: https://bit.ly/2AI1oTE #RSPCA #findeachother #adoptdontshop

*To be re-homed separately* Could you offer Pudsey or Dusty a forever home? They both came to us from the inspectors after their owners didn’t have their cats neutered and ended up with 10 cats in their home! Both cats are really friendly lap cats who love fuss and attention. Pudsey is 4 years old and will give you gentle ‘head butts’ to let you know he wants some attention. He even has his own little teddy that he snuggles up with. Dusty is 2 years old and also loves his cuddles and snuggle time. He loves to sleep on the bed with his foster carer. Both cats can be re-homed separately and will need to be the only cats in the home. If you are looking for a lovely companion, why not give Pudsey or Dusty a chance and come to meet them? #findeachother #RSPCA #adoptdontshop
