Here are some of the lovely bunnies, piggies & other small furries we have in our care at the moment.
We charge a £55 adoption fee per rabbit (or £100 for a pair) and ALL of our rabbits are neutered, fully vaccinated against myxomatosis, RVHD1 and RVHD2 and microchipped.
Our male guinea pigs are neutered and their adoption fee is £35. Female piggies are £25 and will not be neutered.
... We will carry out home visits before allowing any rabbit to leave our care. Any existing bunnies in the household MUST be neutered and vaccinated.
Please remember that rabbits need much more than just a hutch and a run ... they like enrichment and stimulation and also an environment where they can display natural behaviours such as digging. A good place to start when looking for ideas is http://www.rabbitwelfare.co.uk/
The RSPCA MINIMUM guidelines for accommodation are as follows:
Rabbits MUST have constant access to an area of 3m long x 2m wide x 1m high as a minimum at all times. Access to a large area where they can run, hop and stretch up is essential.
Guinea pigs must have a MINIMUM of 150cm x 60cm with an attached run. This is the minimum for a pair, trios and more will require larger accommodation. We love C and C cages (or similar set-up) for piggies ... www.candcguineapigcages.co.uk
Remember, the above size guidelines are just the minimum recommendations. The more space you can provide, the happier and healthier your pets will be.
Please read the individual photos for descriptions and adoption fees for our small furries. We will need to see evidence of your set-up (via photo/video), and in some cases, we will come and carry out a home visit.
For more information, please complete the relevant application form or contact our adoptions team on 07840 926122, or adoptions@rspca-northamptonshire.org .uk

Rabbit Awareness Week 2019 🐰
Rabbits are extremely playful and should be provided with rabbit-safe toys. It is important to keep rabbits occupied and their environment should be stimulating and interesting.
You can buy rabbit safe toys from pet shops, but great inexpensive options are willow balls and cardboard tubes. Provide environmental enrichment by giving your rabbits tubes to hide in and boxes to climb on. Mix it up by swapping the layout every few days and watch your ...rabbits explore!
RVHD2 fact of the day: It is a myth that Rabbit Viral Haemorrhagic Disease 2 (RVHD2) can only be caught through contact with an infected rabbit. The virus can be carried by birds and insects and their droppings. The soles of shoes, car tyres, other pets feet or on an owners hands or clothes! There are many ways in which the virus can be carried and this is just a small selection.

So far this year, almost 200 cats have been or are still in our care.
Can you, our followers, guess what percentage of the cats are black/black and white?

Rabbit Awareness Week 2019 🐰
Myxomatosis has been present in the UK since it was introduced from South America in the 1950s. It killed a very high percentage of wild rabbits and continues to kill many wild and pet rabbits every year. The full-blown form of myxomatosis affects the eyelids, the skin of the ears, lips and genitals causing swellings.
There is a skin form of myxomatosis, which isn’t usually fatal. This form causes small thickened lumps of skin to form on the eyeli...ds, nose, head and sometimes the shoulders. These typically fall away after 2-3 weeks. There is no specific treatment available for Myxomatosis so it's important to get your rabbit vaccinated (and then a booster every 6-12 months).
RVHD2 fact of the day: A vaccination to help protect your rabbit against RVHD2 is available and can be given 2 weeks apart from the combined RVHD1 & Myxomatosis vaccination. Speak to your vet for more information.

The Adventures of Ash! Ash was out on the long line today and absolutely loves the freedom to extend his legs. In the fields he is in and out of the bushes, sniffing and searching, but today it was all about the rolling, in the dry grass that smells so good, no fox poo I promise. As you can see Ash loves being out and about enjoying the sunshine.

Rabbit Awareness Week 2019 🐰
As prey animals, rabbits need to be provided with places to hide.
When rabbits feel in danger, their natural response is to find somewhere to hide. Try to see things from their perspective if your rabbit is always hiding. The noise from a busy road or nearby cats and dogs (who are their natural predators) could leave your rabbit feeling under threat.
... RVHD2 fact of the day: Rabbit Viral Haemorrhagic Disease 2 (RVHD2) often has no symptoms, meaning it can be very hard to spot early on. When symptoms are present, they can be confused with other health conditions.

Rabbit Awareness Week 2019 🐰
Rabbit's teeth are continuously growing, and therefore good quality feeding hay and grass is very important for maintaining good dental health.
Bunnies need to eat their body size in hay every day to wear down their teeth and prevent nasty dental problems.
... RVHD2 fact of the day: Rabbit Viral Haemorrhagic Disease 2 (RVHD2) is a new strain of the virus RVHD1. As with RVHD1, the virus causes internal bleeding, cases were first reported in the UK in 2015.

Today marks the start of Rabbit Awareness Week 2019 🐰
All week we shall be sharing information to help guide rabbit owners. This year the focus for #RAW is raising awareness around Rabbit Viral Haemorrhagic Disease 2 (RVHD2).
RVHD2 is a new variant of RVHD1 and is often fatal.
... Many rabbits in the UK are not vaccinated against this deadly disease and are therefore at risk. This year we are asking all rabbit owners in the UK to make sure that their rabbits are vaccinated against this and other fatal diseases.

Ash is crossed with a Staffordshire Bull Terrier but is more of a small to medium dog, full of energy and bounce, he is looking for a home that can keep up with him, he is full of excitement and always on the go. Unfortunately his hearing is only partial due to ear operations required on both ears, so he does need someone who is consideate of this. He always tries to do what is asked of him but sometimes just does not hear it properly.
Ash is a dog that likes to be around pe...ople and loves to please but he does require training, he knows his basic commands and will sit and stay but due to his hearing difficulties, recall is not great. He also has a habit of pulling on the lead and needs someone to help him improve this.
Ideally we would like Ash to go to a home with a calmer dog that can keep him company or a home where he will not be left alone all day but people are coming and going. Ash can live with children but we advise that they must be 11 or older mainly due to his bouncy nature. He does have a strong prey drive so no cats or small animals.
This boy is a caring and gentle soul who is not enjoying kennel life and really needs to find a home where he can be accepted for who he is and be part of the family.
If you feel Ash is the dog for you then please fill out an application form, all viewings are by appointment only and will only take place once an application has been received.

The Adventures of Ash! This doggy is just misunderstood, he is a sweet and loyal companion you couldn't ask for a nicer dog, but with that comes his cheeky side, lots of excitement and just a touch of the naughty. Today Ash took off on an adventure down the lane he was sniffing the flowers, interested in the grass and listening to the cows in the field. he is interested in everything constantly on the go he hardly stopped to take a breath, he has lots and lots of energy and could walk for hours. Nothing phases this little guy.
