So my favourite moments tonight- Jessica as the Baker’s wife showing real growth from her first scene to her second by adding more expression and exaggeration and a really productive and exciting conversation with Freya about beginning her Silver Arts Award. Can’t wait to get you and Skyla entered.

What an incredible start to the new term tonight. Firstly I’d like to welcome our newbies that came for a trial- Eric, Josh and Jackson. All boys read from the ‘Into the woods script,’ as either Rapunzel or Cinderella’s prince, fluent sight reading from Josh, a great big strong voice from Eric and great expression from Jackson. Hope you boys enjoyed yourself.

Over the years, we have had lots of enquiries for younger children to join our Drama classes and we have sadly had to say that Drama classes begin at 5.😔😔 However, new to 2019, we are delighted to announce a brand new class for three year olds which will combine musical theatre, baby ballet, tap and lyrical. This will begin next Tuesday so please, share, shout it from the rooftops that we are now open to tiddlers, who can then also be in our Summer show!!!!!!🥳🤩 In addition to this,at a slightly later time Tuesdays will also see the start of a new dance class catering for older students aged 5 and up for a class in Musical theatre and beginners tap.

Well what a wonderful end to a fantastic first term here at Ruby Slippers. We had beautiful singing, delicious food, dancing, games (lots of red and sweaty faces) brilliant drama, comedy and true Christmas spirit in abundance. Thankyou to all the families who came and watched and brought scrumptious party food. It was great to see so many people there. If anyone took any photographs or videos, please do share on our page so that we can all enjoy them. (I didn’t get chance to take any!) As usual, it was a team effort so a massive thank you to Christine and Kelly, Freya, Jessica, Joe and Skyla for backstage and technical support. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and look forward to welcoming you all back for what I’m sure will be a successful year!

Need to also give a shout out to Josh for keeping the Gruffalo gang in line and well done to them all for their patience. Really fab performances by Harry and Malachi, good on you boys! But I just feel very lucky to work with such well behaved children who have taken on so much tonight.

Well its a super busy night tonight. I must have been crrraaaazy to decide to put a a little Christmas showcase on but boy we have pulled it off, thanks to the fantastic students. The older ones have not only looked after the younger ones splendidly but they’ve also taken on technical roles with lights and sound. Skyla and Joe well done for operating sound and lights, it’s great to have an all round knowledge of the Perf Arts and other skills. Freya, Jess and Grace thank you fit your stage management and chaperoning

Hi everyone, this is on tomorrow where our classes are and it’s open to all our students, though parents are asked to stay with the younger ones x

So news and highlights from tonight Olivia Brown had her best performance to date at drama as the 🦊 fox in the Gruffalo. We also had a fantastic hissssssing snake from Jenson and a very expressive narrator in Kyra. Lovely enthusiasm from our tiddler Jessie Brown who was delighted playing a tree in lots of different ways! And Harry was perfectly cast as the mouse. And some of our older girls were given a very ambitious speech as Lady Macbeth. They were introduced to a range of technical approaches to performing Shakespeare.

So, as this week is National Anti-bullying week, I thought we should explore this important theme through improvisation, and, with the older group, forum theatre. Natalia from our younger group, gave her strongest performance in drama so far since she joined. Other convincing performances were given by Jenson and Erica too. Well done everyone for dealing with a sensitive topic maturely. Drama is not only about entertaining, I want our students to also understand how powerful a tool it can be for educating and changing opinion and getting messages across to make change in our world. These children are the future!
