We visited yesterday with my children and they loved it without question. I don't have anything negative to say about the experience, I must admit I was quite reluctant about ordering food after seeing some of the reviews but that also was lovely and perfectly cooked. I'm putting down the bad reviews to teething problems which every new business goes through and with high demand of being opened to the public I think they have done really well in the makeover at such short notice. What I will say is people Need to try it for themselves and not go by the reviews. I've been to places that have been opened for years and is very popular but isn't worthy of 2*. It's a thumbs up from me on this occasion

User

We recently had our son’s 4th birthday party here, and it was great! The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves; there was lots for them to do, the party food went down well and it was a good set up in the birthday huts. Many improvements have been made and it’s definitely worth a visit! Thank you Rugrats and Half Pints for giving my son and his friends a great time and fun memories

User

First time back since it changed hands. Made the most of twin Tuesday. one of them decided to trip over his own feet and bump his head on the floor . (He's nearly 5) this is a normal occurance for us. Anyway I have to say the staff were fabulous, never have we had such quick attention and help with or without being asked. Ice packs and ice cream helped heal my little soldier.

Very happy mummy and twins. They still didn't want to leave after 2 hours there.

Many thanks to the staff, see you again soon.

User

Visited today, dispite hearing about, but not reading the "bad reviews" before hand.

Have to say, I don't think all of the negative 1* comments are warranted from our experience. When Magic land, the car park was and always will been an issue, there has always been a queue for food and drinks - it's the type of place where you expect it to be busy so you expect to wait. Unfortunately for the staff, they are working with inherited equipment and in due course will be replaced to aid speed of service. The young lady serving coffee while I was waiting in the queue was polite, calm, professional and doing her very best to keep up! I was informed there would be a wait for food before ordering and when it came it was perfectly acceptable for the setting. I spoke personally to the manager to highlight a particularly member of staff's poise and I am confident the teething problems will be rectified. We will definitely be visiting again.

User

Visited for the first time this morning since it has been refurbished. We arrived not long after it had opened and had a warm welcome from the lady on the desk. The new layout makes it feel more specious and you can watch the children a lot better. The new baby area is great. My little one loved the area with the Little Tikes cars. Plenty to do for children of all ages. The only negative comment is it seemed short staffed. I felt sorry for the lady on the desk who was also serving food. I only saw two people working in there today and I was there 2.5 hours. Will definitely return and would recommend for a nice half day out!

User

Been here two hours and the little one still doesn’t want to leave. Yes, like every new business there are teething problems but it is clear that these will soon be rectified. There was a wait on food but this was understandable due to how busy the place was. Considering the shortage of staff, I think they are all doing a great job and should be cut some slack. Personally I don’t think that many of the previous negative reviews reflect this business, and are simply people nit picking instead of supporting. Will definitely be coming back

User

The reason im giving it a 3 is because the facilities were good. The staff however i was not best pleased with. On arrival (and had never been before) was bot informed of where things were and was also not informed that socks would be required in the play area. After being there for nearly 2 hours a member of staff came over to me and in a rude manner told me that socks were supposed to be worn by all. I informed him i was unaware of this ( i noticed the signs after but did not have time to read the rules thoroughly due to chasing around 2 children under the age of 3!). i was then told i had to buy some from reception. Now if i had been informed of this on arrival i would have happily done so but was informed 2 hours after being there and in a very rude manner.

As i said before the facilites were good. Play areas was good and kids loved that but that staffing needs a lot of training. Very unwelcoming and not very good with the kids at all (my daughter said bye to them when we were leaving only to be ignored).

I will most likely not be coming back unless the staff have a LOT more training and customer service skills.

User

The equipment there was great for the under 2’s as well as older children. Most of the staff that we approached were polite.

However, my son got shouted out by the owner (which made him nervous as he came over and put his head in me worried). I then later seen her shout and point with aggression at someone else’s child’s and made the young boy cry.

We paid the extra £1 to go on the go karts but we didn’t get a full go round a couple of times, we constantly had to stop to let other people get on and off which was really annoying (there was a time limit to the ride).

It did seem disorganised and understaffed.

We didn’t eat food here so we can’t comment on that.

It was very busy (maybe a bit too busy) but we did go over the weekend.

User

I visited with my three children and a group of friends earlier this week. It was ok, I have to admit I was expecting more.

I was shocked at the cost to get in considering what is there. Admittedly they have installed trampolines (which is currently unsafe. It needs a member of staff supervising this area, because it’s like a free for all and someone is going to get hurt) and a new car area, but other than that it still looks like Magicland.

Apparently some stuff has not yet been installed and so maybe they should have reduced the prices over Easter as an introductory to show people the new place and explain what is to come, so people could get a feel for things, rather than feel ripped off!

The food queue took forever, as they were short staffed. To be fair there was a sign up and the staff were trying so hard but I just don’t understand how you could have got it so wrong with holiday cover. My friend ordered food and while expensive it did look better than they used to serve.

The exit gate could be a problem too. The staff don’t watch who is coming out and so young children can easily escape.

I used to come to Magicland a lot, sadly I won’t be coming here regularly but I would come back maybe now and again.

User

I visited with my 3 children and a group of friends a couple of days ago, , I was shocked at the price increase for entrance... it was over £20 for two children and a 12 month old baby. I felt there was very little change to account for the increase in price. I was left feeling a bit disappointed and like I was at magic land but that I’d spent almost twice as much money to go....On a positive note, we ordered food which came out in a reasonable amount of time considering how busy it was, we had x3 children’s meals which were a good sized portion and of a decent standard for the price. To summarize I’d say I’d be reluctant to spend that amount of money again (£45 with entrance, food and 1 drink each) for soft play if there are no more changes to come.

User

I appreciate you've been short staffed with the holidays not tying up so I don't want to be unfair, but feel a couple of things need to be raised. The place has a nice feel and a lot of work has obviously been put in to freshen it up. The facilities are good and there's plenty to play with although a little slim for the gap between baby and big apparatus. We didn't have food. My concerns lie in safety. Your decision to remove the one way doors for entry and exit worries me as the entrance gate was left open for much of the time we were there, having no spring mechanism. If you're bringing more than one child and don't have eyes in the back of your head, this is a worry as a child could easily go through the gate and straight out of the main doors. Also, having installed trampolines, I think there needs to be a member of staff always present to police your 1 per bed policy. Whilst it's down to parents to supervise their children, we all know that's often not the case. I tried my best yesterday to keep other people's children off the trampoline for my kids to have a go but failed miserably. If you don't have staff to police, I feel the trampolines shouldn't be available on those days as in the event of an accident, your insurers would find you negligent.

User

Having been to both old and new you can definately see an improvement in the building and that an effort has tried to be made. What i dont get is why your staff like to congregate around the hot drinks counter. I have been on 2 occasions in the previous weeks and have never seen a member of staff leave that area. No one seems to be looking out for clearing tables or ensuring that not too many children are on the trampolines. Also there is now no one to seen around the big climbing frame. Im not sure what your policy states on children safety with them going up the large slide or masses of older children in the baby section. For paying £6.50 a child i would expect more. Also not impressed that the go carts are not included in the price seems a bit odd to me, Especially when all other places like this would have all equiptment included in the price. On saying this aswell i would expect paying so much to get in you would hope the food not be so expensive over £5 for a jacket potatoe seems very steep to me and i work in catering. All aside im sure it will forever be popular as this is the only thing of its kind in cirencester.

User

Dirty tables all over the place, I haven’t seen one member of staff clear a table since I’ve been here.

Hardly any bins.

Although it is the parents who are responsible for their children’s welfare, the odd member of staff doing a walk around every now and then would be good.

The queue for food was long and slow, all the time, one member of staff taking orders, making coffees and serving doesn’t work at peak times.

I made the mistake of coming over lunch, kids needed feeding .... so far, with entrance fees I’ve parted with £50!!!

User

We visited today and have to say did not have the best experience to be honest.

The toilets were a disgrace and clearly hadn’t been checked for awhile

The soft play structure had tears in the fabric which resulted in me going flying as I caught my foot in it...

The trampolines had springs that had come detached and my son actually got stuck in them bearing in mind he is only 3 and non verbal it was a good job that I was with him otherwise he could have been really hurt if he had fallen all the way through... this was reported and sorted straight away but if a member of staff was manning it then it wouldn’t have happened...

The go karts are exceedingly expensive and unnecessary... after spending £7.50 to get in they could have used wiggle cars which would have been far more user friendly

The entrance gate kept being left open which is obviously a safety issue..

The good points: the sensory area is fantastic and my son really enjoyed this and I really like the small play structure for the littles which is much bigger then used to be..

User

We came here for our twins 3rd birthday this morning. We arrived and was greeted by a man (I know the name ) who had the worlds grumpiest face. My girls who were wearing there birthday badges were excited about going in but there was no happy birthday or anything from this man.

The play area is good and you can see the improvements although we feel that the price off food is high especially as you can leave after and go to Tesco to get a meal deal for £3!

We had an issue with the go carts too. There was no clear display to say that the go carts can not be used in the week. Silly as they are only going to be sat there all week when you have people that want to go on them!

My husband took one off my daughters on one and then he got told off by the said man above for going on it! I spoke to someone to complain as it was not fair that one off the twins went on and not the other. She said she would allow it this time but by then the fun was over and we had just about enough.

They did how ever put the sign on the door off the go carts when we’re leaving but even then it needs clearer signs!

Only a handful off staff smiled. The chef (person who looked like they were cooking) looked untidy and wasn’t in proper kitchen clothes.

I did confront someone about the said man above and they said they would talk to him.

This visit ruined our morning and the girls were upset that no one took notice that it was there birthday.

I’m afraid that we won’t be coming back as we travel from Gloucester this was a very disappointing visit!

User

This is my 3rd visit since it re-opened and I feel it will be my last. Although lots of work has been done and there are improvements (my children love the trampolines.) safety is now a really big concern, as a previous review has already pointed out moving the entrance gate has made the place unsafe as the staff are not enforcing a rule for customers to shut the gate. I myself got up and shut it a minimum of 10 times. When you have more then one child with you, you need to know that the children can’t get out but this sadly is not the case anymore.

As for food last time I waited one hour and still hadn’t had my food so I went to ask were it was and it suddenly appeared only luke warm. Today there are no sandwiches made up, meaning there will be a wait as it states in quiet periods they will be made to order! I wouldn’t call a rainy half term quiet. There are no cakes and the fridges are empty which is a shame as I’m sure you knew you were going to get lots of customers as you surely would of checked the weather forecast.

There doesn’t appear to be a manager on site which is worrying as all the staff are very young and I’m not sure how they would deal with an emergency as they can’t even manage to close a gate!

I run a restaurant and I’m worried about some of the things I saw today. If you would like to private message me I will explain as I don’t feel it would be fair to put everything on here.

User

The soft play was lovely and the children had a lovely time running around..

The addition of trampolines are great however need to be manned otherwise someone is going to get seriously hurt..

Staff members... well i just felt sorry for them.. all 3 of them.. rushing around being polite and trying to adjust to their new roles.. Fab job.

BUT the owner was extremely disrespectful and rude!

I ordered food (this appears to be a big issue) my food arrived, my godsons didn't, it took over 45minutes to get him his food after mine had been delivered. This was the same for my friends. The owner tried to blame the till for printing the wrong table number (Ok u can understand) but then she changed her story to "she came over but no one was here' when we had been there all along as some of us had food. I asked for a complaint form, to be told I could have a feedback form, this never arrived and she walked off saying "Well you got your food now."

Would have been 4 stars as the children had a lovely time and the staff are clearly trying their best despite being very understaffed but the owner ruined it for us.

User

Just had a visit to the newly opened centre and I think it’s safe to say I will not go again.

Taken half of the equipment out and replaced with items that are totally dangerous. Trampolines with 6 people on and kids racing round on roller racer, fast enough to break your ankles!

£6 for a 2 year old and the toddler section is tiny and due to amount of people on the main frame he could not go on it.

4 year old being knocked over constantly and plowed down by bigger children.

No one supervising on the floor. The whole place in chaos!

Waited over 45 minutes to get in, over 30 minutes to place a food order and when it arrived it was tiny and had seen better days.

I spent £30 here today for 2 children (2,4) and I wish I had gone else where.

An accident waiting to happen!

User

When we eventually found a table as it was too busy it was full of rubbish cups ect the whole duration of the time we were there watching people leave no one in the 2 hours of us being there cleaned up after people the whole room was just full of rubbish! Stuff for my nearly 1 year old to play with was brilliant but I had to take her away from the “baby and toddler” area as there were children a lot bigger than her running around, throwing balls and knocking my daughter over, opening and closing the gate into the play area I then took her to the sensory bit to get her away from the big children as they were all a bit to much around small baby’s and there was more of them in the 0-3 years area and the staff didn’t stop this from happening so didn’t really get our money’s worth as she was sat on my lap most of the time due to older children being in the areas they shouldn’t be!
