Rutland Cycling Peterborough

Spent a while reviewing bikes and decided to purchase one online from Rutland. For me, it’s a large purchase and not pocket money! So I wanted to make sure it was the right bike.

All started off really well! Fantastic customer service from Kurt in the Peterborough store, really went above and beyond and I was so excited. Sadly Kurt was off the next time I made contact and the guy I dealt with left me close to tears.

I would’ve liked to have put a 5 star review but I was very close to cancelling the whole order! Never have I ever been spoken to in such a way when simply enquiring about an address change. All was needed was for him to say ‘we would need proof of address if you would like to change the delivery address now the purchase has gone theough’ Rather than a 25 minute phone call speaking over me at every chance ‘speculating’ and ‘assuming’ outcomes. He was very passive aggressive and after I had eventually had enough I said just forget the whole thing, he put the phone down on me.

Called me back five minutes later, advised me that I’d need a proof of address to change the address, I said it didn’t matter. He guaranteed delivery for Thursday when previously being adament this was not possible. Then added he’s thrown in some pedals for the trouble; obviously he knew he shouldn’t have spoken to me the way he did!

I was willing to spend more money on pedals, new helmet and some clothing but I don’t think I’ll deal with Rutland again.

"Fantastic service by Kurt today, far and beyond that one would normally expect.Not only was bike ready for collection, Kurt gave friendly advice, adjusted seat height, transferred old front mudguard from old 14 year old Giant Cypress bike (bought from you in 2003) to new bike, removed new seat and replaced it with my old comfortable one, and even supplied a bolt for my pannier to replace one which shredded on removal. All in all 5* service from a thoroughly nice friendly knowledgable and amusing man. Thanks Kurt!"

I bought a Haibike from Rutland today. Kurt arranged for the bike to be brought over from another shop, he rang me when the bike was ready to ride, explained fully how this E bike operated and answered all of my questions fully.On completion of the ride I informed him that I had seen the same bike advertised online at a better price, having checked the details I provided and confirmed with Colin, I was given the price match, saving me a lot of money.This is what I call excellent customer care.well done and thank you. The staff was very helpful, and patient with foreigners (us) who had to look up their UK phone numbers and hotel addresses. The bikes we got were in great condition and fit us well. No kickstands, which was a little odd, but maybe it's a British thing.

I recommend biking around the park using the map they provide rather than going off on an adventure like we did. If you DO decide to go on a biking adventure, keep in mind that GPS can be confusing when you're on a bike and everything will take longer than you think. If you do overextend yourself, the local trains have a space for bikes, and two bikes will fit into a Mercedes taxi. Do get the bikes back before the shop closes; the staff has things to do and shouldn't have to wait around for crazy customers who underestimate the amount of time it takes to return to the shop. (Very sorry about that!)

Very unhappy with your bike hire service at Ferry Meadows.
All website information states bike hire is available from 9.00am, however, when we arrived we were informed it is 10.00am. We're travelling from overseas, have a very tight schedule and further engagements during the day and a 10.00am bike hire simply will not fit in with our plans.

Totally in-flexible, unable to offer a bike hire, more than my 'jobsworth' attitude. Why can't people be flexible? Sure, bike hire is normally at 10.00am, but as your here early.... sign here, swipe my credit card and away you go.... Is really that difficult?

We're visiting from the other side of the world.....and this is a reminder why we emigrated!

Very pleased with our in-store experience. Able to test ride the bikes I was interested in. In-store prices marked higher than online but they match the online price. Kurt was very helpful and there was no high pressure selling. Bike built and accessories added in about an hour. Would definitely visit again.

Anyone thinking of buying a bicycle visit Rutland cycles first, great service , friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff, very customer focused, highly recommended.
