Rutland Marathon Events Description
A Local Marathon running event taking place in Rutland 18 /09 /2016. The Rutland Marathon is a family organised event at one of the most beautiful venues in the country. The race takes place around the shores of one of EuropeтАЩs biggest man made reservoirs. The route includes tarmac, gravel and dirt tracks and includes most the circumference of the lake including the peninsula. The route passes metres from the waters edge and weaves through some of the country's most precious wetland habitats. You may be lucky enough to get a glimpse of a mighty osprey, even if you donтАЩt you will still encounter some of the best views this picturesque county has to offer. Amenities and facilities are dotted around the route with established tourist spots including car parks, toilets and cafes. The course is incredibly spectator friendly with an excellent road network and series of large parking facilities at regular intervals. If they wish, spectators can purchase a day pass in order to follow runners on their epic journey. This will allow them to enter and exit all Anglian water parking facilities for the day for a single ┬г6. 00 payment. There are very few venues that allow this accessibility to competitors with such ease. Competitors will receive race momentous including a medal to commemorate their day.

Rutland 10km. ЁЯОЙCLOSED ROADSЁЯОЙ
We've been secretly working away on our first closed road event for a very long time now and we've managed to pull so many people together to make this happen. Massive thanks to Rutland County Council and the highways department, as well as Anglian Water and all of our stake holders and partners for supporting this event!
... You will receive magnificent views over the dam, run past one of Rutland's most iconic landmarks- Normanton church, chase through beautiful Rutland scenery on the south shore, race through woodland roads, all on closed roads making this a fast and flat 10km run!
As lovers of running, we wanted to create a course that we would LOVE to run ourselves and we believe we've got a brilliant route planned!

In the 1908 London Olympics the course was exactly 26 miles, from Windsor Castle to the White City Stadium. In order for the race to finish in front of the Royal Box, an extra 385 yards were added. Making the marathon 26.2 miles.
