Ruxton Horses

We are a small stud breeding and producing competition horses for dressage and show jumping.

The Ruxton stud was started in 2000. An idea of Dr David Slater to breed British sports horses using. Using the information collated by the German and Dutch breed societies to breed horses with very high indices for jumping and dressage. David worked together with his wife Milly and Melanie, one of his four daughters, to select and breed from proven mare lines and up and coming stallions. Dorine Wilbrink from Holland has also been an invaluable asset as based in Holland she is able to see a lot of the stallions in action and their offspring!
Another invaluable asset to Ruxton Horses is Emma Slater the 4th daughter of David and Milly. Working with Melanie we have been able to use their knowledge and feel for the different disciplines to guide the breeding programme, as they break and produce the horses. Primarily by noting the family traits - good and bad! Working together as a close unit we are able to breed successful, talented sports horses.
