Rudest staff I've ever come across. I went in to ask if they could help me see if a new bike seat would attach to my bike (my old seat was stolen) as I had been informed by someone else that this seat was adjustable and should fit my bike. I'm no bike expert, so to have the guy at at this shop start laughing and insulting me for not realising that this new seat was way too small for my bike was humiliating and offensive. He then told his colleague to measure my bike post but to 'not laugh at the one that was already in there'. Horrible man, horrible shop, will never be going back.

Terribly rude man. Went in to enquire about their selection of used bikes.

Me: Do you have any second hand bicycles for sale?

The shopkeeper, a man, shouted: ALL OUTSIDE GO OUTSIDE.

He did not explain what bicycles he had/ the prices they were going for/ their age and condition etc.

Absolutely horrid service. Of course, we left immediately.

He was very rude. Three people went in to ask for information and he was rude to them all and even threw one of them out. The vendor refused to answer simple questions and insisted that a potential customer step outside to read the info posted on the door. Worst hiring experience so ever.

My bike rear wheel fender is detached from its clip at one end. Although another clip in the middle is holding it in place, that end bit near the pedals was bouncing around and creating noise due to the vibration while cycling. I went to this shop and asked if they have any solution to this in helping to reattach the one end of the fender. The man at the counter took a very brief look and just said "No we can't do anything about it." I then asked if they have any part where they can add to that and put the tender in place. The other man inside the shop then jumped in and said they can't help in a "I don't really care" attitude. The first man then said "well if you can add a piece in place please feel free to do it and show me how." Well if I know how to fix that I wouldn't have to come to a bike shop would I? Genius! He then said something like the bike is fine and you do not need to fix that at all and shove me away (as there is another customer waiting). I am truly amazed by their lace of manners and rather mean attitude.

I then went into town near market place and enquired about the issue at another bike shop. The shopkeeper came and literally solved the problem in 30 seconds. Without adding any other piece, he readjusted the fender in the right position and tightened the grip on it using a screw. Done, problem solved.

The takeaway point from here is how S&G Cycles (the owner/shopkeeper) treats its customers and how much they don't care. Only now I realise there are similar reviews online talking more of like the same things about this bike shop. They might have good skills at fixing bikes or offer a good selection of bikes, but their sheer meanness, unwillingness to help, and "can't be bothered" attitude are really the key reasons you should consider some other bike shops in town (given that there are so many of them). I do not see any passion on bicycle from both of them at all, nor any basic hospitality expected from a normal bike shop. It feels like they are just treating it as a business and anything beyond that they won't really care. To save yourself time and possibly some rudeness, go elsewhere.

I always used to go this bike shop, but have been overcharged! Went to another shop and was thoroughly surprised by their low prices and friendly staff!!! Would definitely shop around before going here.

Always genuine, always upfront, cordial despite being busy, and always fairly priced. I cannot speak to some of the previous poorer reviews regarding service and demeanour, however I've taken my bike here several times now and will continue to do so as well as recommend their services to others.

Despite always having a good and honest exchange, I tread through some of the reviews and decided perhaps I would give another local business a try. I won't mention any names, but I can tell you I was woefully overcharged and was not given a choice of services rendered but was rather told.

Absolutely awful shop! I left my driving licence here having left it as a holding deposit! Called to ask if they had it and offered to post it! Having rung to check in this, I was rudely spoken to on the phone, told they were too busy! Again, called a week later, still extremely rude and in sympathetic! 3 weeks later, still no driving Licnence and have just been told it's not there problem! Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced!!

Threw out an item of my bike (a secure axel, pinhead, highly recommend) worth £30, which was of no value to him (it needs a specific key to be of use, how he removed it I don't know). He threw it out due to a mix up with the key, then refused to reimburse me.
