Good Afternoon! Safeside today welcomes St Augustines Catholic Primary School. They are our second school of the term visiting our safety village today - and all lead round the village by our fantastic Volunteer Visitor Guides! We hope you all had a fantastic day. Well done everybody!

It is with heavy hearts that we wish a fond farewell to two longstanding volunteers who have supported Safeside and delivered life saving messages to children over the last decade. Rowland and Janet have together educated over 3,000 primary school children and been a huge part of our "Fire Service family". We wish to express our gratitude and best wishes for an amazing couple! Thankyou Janet & Rowland! Xx

Very pleased to receive positive feedback following todays Junior Citizen tour by our volunteer visitor guides. The group organiser commented "the volunteers clearly know their stuff and think on their feet", "the scenarios were excellent and all relevant" and "the kids gained a lot of knowledge". Fantastic feedback! X

Our staff and volunteers hard at work today promoting Safeside and volunteering at the Fire Service. A slighly damp day supporting Ward End Fire Station at the Mega Mela in Ward End Park, but the Watch looked after us and the weather did not dampen our team spirit! We have enjoyed welcoming Daylight - SoLO Life Opportunities at Safeside today for our Special Educational Needs programme. So we had some of our volunteers getting into role today as "walking wounded" to help WMFS with training for real life scenarios. Well done to our volunteer Ray in achieving his NCFE certificate in Awareness of Mental Health. This has been achieved whilst volunteering at Safeside and is just one of many learning opportunities available to staff and volunteers at West Midlands Fire Service. X

Lovely day out in Liverpool today to say thank you to our fabulous volunteers for all the hard work and commitment they give to volunteering for West Midlands Fire Service! It was enjoyed by all and hope our volunteers feel truly valued...you are all amazing! X

A massive well done to our volunteer Ray who achieved the finalist award in the Volunteering Category at the Community Inspiration 8th Awards Ceremony, organised by Community Foundation at the Al Miraj Banqueting Suite. Our keen Community Volunteers are in today attending Every Choice Counts training from our Road Safety Reduction Team trainer Arron (seen here wearing the Virtual Reality Simulation goggles!). This will help them to educate members of the public and assist our firefighters in delivering key road safety messages. Excellent facility, and the staff were very helpful. The students all had a great time and really enjoyed it. An extremely informative day.

Attended today with my daughters school great experience although some areas a little rushed but overall the children loved it thankyou x
