Got home today to find the postman is our friend!! New tools for the workshop to make sure cuts/angles/mitres are precise.
We love a digital measure/guide here at SP, makes life so much easier when providing a first class product.

Been chatting to a possible new supplier today, there is a sawmill just a few minutes drive from us, amazing range of wood slices that would make absolutely breathtaking coffee tables. Chestnut, Beech, Elm, Oak all available.
Would there be any interest if we were to produce a sample?

We’ve been asked a few times to justify why we charge what we do for our planters when similar sized planters are available at a fraction of our price. We’ll cover a few brief reasons to try and clear this up.......
•Ours are made from “Tanilith E” pressure treated timber. •Planters made from “pallet wood” have had NO treatment so offer very little protection from the rotting process.
... •Our planters are constructed from 32mm thick timber which offers strength, sturdiness and durability. •Planters made from “pallet wood” will only be a maximum of 10mm thick, those made from any kind of cladding material ie shiplap, tongue and groove, feather edge etc again will only be on average 10-12mm thick. Although this offers the benefit of a planter that will be lightweight it will offer little in longevity for the life span of the planter.
•Our planters when built are glued AND screwed together using trade standard wood/decking screws. •Other planters may be offered as “nailed not stapled”, this offers little benefit when you consider the amount of compost/soil that will be in your planter.
Our 450x450mm planter holds approximately 50litres of compost, this equates to 40-45kgs of weight pushing out on the sides of your planter.
Are you willing to sacrifice quality of build and durability for the sake of saving a few £££’s?
As they say, “buy cheap, buy twice!”
Our planters are available to order now with fast delivery.

We’ll be trading at a selection of local markets and car boot sales during the second quarter of 2019. We will have a large range of products for sale on the day or we can take orders to be made specially.
We now have the facility to take payments by credit/debit card.

First one made, just got to apply 2 coats of preserver and it will be ready for delivery on Friday.
All of our benches get 2 coats of preserver as standard, this is a clear treatment that soaks into the wood that needs 24-36hrs between coats, it doesn’t stop the ageing/rotting process but it does slow it down meaning your bench will last longer if treated regularly.
All benches supplied in natural wood finish, the final finish is the customers responsibility and we can’t be held liable for any deterioration/deformation of the product once delivery has been made.

2 Benches being made this week for customer orders as well as a corner table unit and then we'll be making a start on production of numerous planters ready for the new season.
Don't forget to place your order now before we get snowed under with other orders in the new year. :)

Herb planters.
Ideal for herbs as they’re constructed in single height, no internal corner posts BUT each joint is glued, clamped and then screwed together. 2 holes (10mm) drilled into the base to allow drainage. 16mm high feet give just enough ground clearance. Available in 3 sizes.....
750mm £15ea... 1000mm £25ea 1250mm £35ea

Having received quite a large order from a local Nursery, we will be opening our order books now, if anyone would like to pre-order their planters to be ready in time for Spring? Due to the size of the order we have, we can’t guarantee we will be able to keep up with spontaneous demand, unless there are confirmed deposited orders in place and then of course all orders will be honoured in plenty of time.
Message us now to take advantage of our pre season prep and have your planters ready for when you want them!

Preparations now under way for next season, yes even in October we’re thinking about the spring! We anticipate a busy season as we have potentially 4 garden centres/ nurseries to service. It’s never too early to think about next years planters, we’ll even offer deals on this years stock items.

Little update on more work carried out, same property as before, the decking was seriously in need of repair, the pagoda was a bit unstable and needed supporting. The yard was showing bare patches. A tonne of stone spread and raked in, old decking removed and a new framework built and then incorporated some triangulation braces to the pagoda to give it some stability. Once finished, 2 coats of anti slip decking paint was applied, all in all a great job done.

Whilst the rain stops play......
Another fencing/maintenance job for a landlord of their rental cottage, replace 6 panels and replace 2 wooden posts for metal, build a palisade fence and gate at the rear of the property and then paint all of the fences. It’s been a hard slog but the end is nigh. Just the block paving to pressure wash and then make good the area.

User

Another bench ready to deliver to the customer, a couple of alterations to this one.....
1) 2x 6x2” timber in centre of table top instead of 3x 4x2” timber.
2) Additional 6” wide back rest extension piece, just slots on and lifts off when bench converted to picnic table.
... The back rest does come as a supplement to the standard price, please message us for details.
Bench has been completely sanded and as standard all benches will receive 2 coats of timber preserver before despatch to the customer.

A customer asked if we could replace their brick wall with a wooden fence as one side had come down in “the beast from the east”. Customer removed the bricks, we then had to drill through the concrete footing to then dig nearly 2ft down to sink the 5ft posts in. All panels screwed to the posts to aid removal in future if needed, bespoke gate mate from additional panel. Gate posts are 4” posts, all others are 3” posts, all are 5ft long and in the ground at least 18 inches.
