Saints And Sinners Projects Description

Saints and Sinners (The Movie Synopsis)

Saints and Sinners is the true story of Frank Skully, born in West London to hard working, god fearing parents, he didn't want to settle for the careers of most of his peers, he was hungry and wanted more from life, Trying to make an ambitious living in 1970's London wasn't easy for a young Black boy, the path was littered with obstacles such as racism, police oppression and inequality. But one day he walked onto a road that was to change his life completely, the road was called the "All Saints Road", home to London's premier Black hustlers, hustlers who a decade before, had bought down the government in office in the notorious Profumo Scandal, All Saints Road bought opportunities that wasn't available nowhere else for a young Black boy, it had a level playing field, the road attracted not only the hustlers, it attracted people from all around the world, famous musicians, activists, sport stars, royalty, anyone who was anyone came to the All Saints Road, it was the street in London that never slept, all night gambling, all night drinking, all night dancing, all night eating and all night socialising, and the annual Notting Hill carnival it was a hive of activity with a 24hr trading post, where a young hustler could make money round the clock, while learning the wisdom of the streets.

Black men in shiny suits and shiny shoes stood on all corners of the All Saints Road, looking as sharp as knives, surrounded by women, it was this image that drew a young 14yr old Frank Skully that Friday night in 1975 on his Chopper bicycle to the All Saints Road, again and again he returned until he became a regular face on the All Saints Road, he followed the template of the older hustlers, he ran errands, he sold hashish, he grafted with the top dippers, pickpocketing the rich in the West End and he also raided the luxury apartments of Mayfair, with inside information from the prostitutes of the All Saints Road, who he had become friendly with. but come the 1980's the streets were changing, the Thatcher years had arrived and the streets weren't fun no more, everything became serious overnight, money, money, money became the mantra, and not only on British comedy shows like Harry Enfield but in real life too.

The Jamaican Yardies started to arrive from the politically charged streets of Kingston, Jamaica to the enclave of the All Saints Road, and with them came immediate violence and crack cocaine, the drug that was to tear the community surrounding the All Saints Road apart in threads, the 1980's made hustlers like Frank Skully take more risks. Frank Skully at 23yrs old, took a gamble that was to end with him sitting in a maximum security prison cell in Parkhurst prison on the Isle of Wight, England, doing hard time with IRA and PLO terrorists, a Mossad spy, an Italian mobster from Chicago and the cream of London's bank robbing Gangsters, he had been learning fast and living faster, when Frank Skully was released at the start of the 1990's decade, he came out to a different All Saints Road, one that was now facing regeneration, a new and different community were now putting a foothold on the streets that he once reigned, without the comfort and the security of the All Saints Road, Frank Skully and his peers took to the wider streets of London, without the safety of the All Saints Road, the lives of all of them became vulnerable, one by one they all fell to the demons of gambling, drugs, alcohol, mental health, violence and prison, those that did survive, survived with mental or physical scars, scars that tell the true story of the All Saints Road.
