Unfortunately, Sakura closed down somewhere around September 2012. Until then, it was a great place.

Express Lunch menu was disappointing (in particular the fried rice lacked seasoning, and texture to the rice); other menus might be significantly better. Service was mostly good.

Poor food, unclean crockery and abrasive staff.

Vegetarian UNFRIENDLY! I tried this restaurant out with a discount voucher and I'm glad I didn't pay full price. Upon arriving I found there were only 3 items on the menu suitable for my diet - 2 types of sushi and vegetable tempura. There were NO vegetarian main courses, it was either meat or fish (which is not at all typical of Japanese cuisine). The restaurant was not even Japanese themed and even worse the manager didn't know what a Bento Box was! (A Japanese customer came in and sat on the table next to us and asked him if this restaurant did Bento Boxes - I honestly couldn't stop laughing when the manager didn't know what they were).
It's certainly a nice little restaurant for business meetings, parties etc because the chefs put on a lovely show at the teppanyaki grills, and the food is absolutely delicious - the only thing that saved this restaurant from a 1-star review.
I would strongly recommend anyone looking for Japanese cuisine visit Etsu in Liverpool - a much cosier, more experienced and more authentic restaurant.
