Well our fabulous 40th year has drawn to a close and we would like to say a huge thank you to our lovely Saldance families for seeing us through a very busy year including 3 shows and 6 exam sessions🙀! During the final week we were very lucky to have Charlie Bruce return to work with our Junior dancers🌟 and a very special guest took time out of his busy schedule to visit our youngest ballet dancers! 🎅We couldn't be more proud of the students and how they continue to grow through the school into dedicated, hardworking, beautiful dancers, we have loved seeing our youngest students start their journey with us and are so happy to see our adult dance community continue to thrive. Wishing you all a wonderful Christmastime with lots of love from all the Team at Saldance Theatre Arts xxx look forward to seeing you all in the New Year! xxx

Shout out to two of our former students - Zoe Oliver (Hollowell) and Alicia Furneaux. Both consistently working in dance and vocal jobs since graduating college and we couldn’t be more proud of you both xxxx

Not long to go!! 😁 This years Talent Show Final and Freestyle Show takes place on Sunday 9th December at 4pm. All students are practising hard to perfect their routines and show you what they’ve been working on this term - this includes some of the senior musical theatre students! As this is our 40th year, we have some special guest judges attending. Talent show finalists have been selected and are rehearsing in their own time to wow the audience and to try to be crowned ‘Sa...ldance Talent of 2018’. Don’t forget to order your tickets! You might have a friend or relative performing who you want to support, or maybe you’ve been thinking about entering and want to see what happens on the day. Any tickets already ordered will be dispatched this week 😊 We look forward to seeing you there xx

A huge well done to everyone that auditioned for the talent show this year. It’s really lovely to see all of the effort that you put in and the amazing things that you come up with. You make it so very hard to pick just 10 acts for the final, but here they are. Congratulations for those of you who’ve made it to the final but a huge well done done to everyone else - it really was a horrible job choosing this year xxx

I echo the thoughts of this other dance teacher.............. “You start by taking your 3 year old daughter or son to dance class as something to fill an hour of the week and give them an outlet for their energy. They come home from class and continues to dance around the house, wearing a few spare scarves from your closet or last year’s dressing up costume from the dress up box – asking every day there after “do I go to dance today?” Next thing you know, you’re complaining a...bout hours spent driving back and forth to the studio, the later-than-you’d-like rehearsal (on a school night?!), time sitting and waiting at the studio for class to end when you have a million other places to be. And don’t even get me started on the money – tuition, dance shoes, master classes, pointe shoes, fund raisers, pointe shoes. Did I mention pointe shoes? You fret and worry that a “normal” childhood is passing them by. There not on the hockey team, she’s not a cheerleader. They are rarely at the dinner table because they have class almost every night of the week. Family vacations are planned around summer workshops. But before you know it, they have danced their last Nutcracker and for her discarded her last pair of pointe shoes and it’s over all too soon. When it’s all over, and they left the stage for the last time, will you remember the hours, the money, the worry or the physical toll? My guess is “no”. You will remember the gifts that dance has given them : the ability to prioritize and multi-task, a strong, flexible body, the ability to handle pressure and last minute changes, an appreciation of music not currently heard on Heart Radio. You will be grateful you are sending your daughter or son out into the world with a strong work ethic and a long attention span. You will have a great sense of peace knowing your daughter or son is part of a strong circle of young women and men equally capable of lifting one another up when the road is rough, as they are at celebrating one another’s triumphs. In the end, you can pat yourself on the back because taking them to that first dance class 15 years ago one of the best parenting decisions you made."
