Over the years I have helped friends and family to make better use of their home computers and laptops by showing them simple tasks and features that can help improve their lives.
I have helped my parents use Skype to talk to my Aunt in New Zealand, which has helped build a closer relationship for them. I helped a friend to set up spread sheets to enable her to set up her own business.
Through the skills I have learnt and picked up during my study and working life, I have gained a wide understanding of how a computer can be a huge benefit to people.
I would like to use these skills to benefit and help people in my community.
I have noticed that there isn’t any way in which people can just learn a specific computer task. Most places offer a course, which teaches much more than what the individual needs. I have also seen that these courses are not offered on an individual basis and that people have to attend a classroom or a large computer room environment, in which they tend to be sitting with headphones on, trying to learn via the computer itself, with very little assistance from the tutor.
My services would offer home training with total one to one support and training. I would also provide a very basic instruction booklet and offer 1 months telephone support, to give each individual confidence in what they are learning.
