The beautiful common spotted orchids are in flower on the hoe.
Taken from Round Down above the Hoe, there were clear views across the channel today.
There is a beautiful patch of bird's-foot trefoil (also known as eggs & bacon) towards the western end of Samphire Hoe with views of Folkestone in the background.
We were excited to see bee beetles last summer;the great news is they have begun to reappear this year too.

There have been some amazing clouds in the sky above the site today, a lunchtime view from the promenade in black and white.
Those Samphire Hoe blues...
The house martins have returned to breed on the cliffs, the mud from this chalky puddle will make a perfect cliff coloured nest.
One of the colour ringed pairs of stonechats have fledged three youngsters, these are the first of the year at the Hoe. Only two posed for a photo.....
The wonderful wild cabbage is in flower, it is said to be the ancestor of the brassicas we eat today.
In the last few days this buzzard has been seen along the cliffs, today it appeared to catch an adder!
