Lest we forget.......
On the night of the 19th December 1981, The Penlee lifeboat launched from Mousehole in total darkness, 100 mph winds and waves cresting to 60 feet.

We had such an amazing time here. We had a Sunday toast after Christmas. We loved it and we can't wait to go back. The staff are friendly and polite. The food was brilliant. The views with your food are beautiful. The kids played in the sea whilst we had a drink. Can't thank you enough for a lovely family meal and a great way to end our holiday. See you soon hopefully .

User

We had our first family holiday and it was the best one, just up the lane on the campsite a few years back and we always revisit! When ever we come back to Cornwall we have to come down to the bar for a beer and a bite to eat and always enjoy ourselves, and the kids too! Lovely laid back atmosphere kids can play without disturbing diners in the games area. It's just fab! Hope to pay a visit this summer x

This is my off-season/winter review. Stunning beach location, sunsets in the winter are breath taking, so long at it isn't raining. Winter opening are a little variable - but always open until 6pm (great for dog walkers - the beach is open to dogs from 1st October through Easter Sunday - our dog Chile is a regular on the beach and in the bar); open much later Friday and Saturday. "Roast on the Coast" Sundays through to 3pm (normal menu afterwards) - three different sizes. Serves Doom and Tribute plus a guest. Our favourite red is the Chilean Merlot.

The crew is always welcoming, nothing seems too much trouble.

One of our favourite haunts in West Cornwall. We enjoyed a delicious, plentiful carvery on Sunday - Roast at the Coast menu. There was a little wait (25 mins) before we were called to the Carvery hatch - time to sip our drinks and take in the magnificent views of the gentle surf reaching the golden sandy beach.

The staff are super-helpful and we enjoyed the live folk music from First and Last. We'll be back again when visiting Cornwall

Great place, great staff and great food and the beach is beautiful! ļæ½

Great food and service all round. I had a bean burger, which was presented well and tasted as good as it looked. The staff seemed enthusiastic and were very helpful. Whilst enjoying our food and beverages we were surrounded by great views of the long beach that the seating area overlooks, both inside and out. I found the place to be clean and well maintained and I look forward to the next time I visit the Sandbar.

User

Can't fault this place for a beach retreat when you want to head down to Praa and hang out all day; breakfast wasn't amazing the last time I went but the calamari is incredible and more than makes up for it

User

Been in twice now and the pizza was superb on Saturday and I had a fantastic steak tonight. Good value cocktails but the draught ale prices are a little high, but you get what you pay for and the beers are superb. The biggest compliment I can pay is that it reminds me of beach bars in the US where they do this well. Definitely recommended.

User

Been coming here every year as the Sandbar and it's previous incarnation back in the day! Lovely staff, location and food. Totally chilled. Dog friendly too x

User

Perfect spot to take a break from the blustery beach. We had drinks. Kids loved the hot chocolates with marshmallows. Coffee was a bit on the small side for a coffee addict! Great alternatives on offer I had a hot spiced apple drink. Warmed the cockles ļæ½ x

User

Lovely meal when we finally got it. BUT for a new customer having a carvery and not knowing what happens bar staff should say to the customer when we told them we are here for a carvery that we need to order at the bar. Not let a customer sit at a reserved table for 40 min ! And then bar staff coming to the table do u realise this table is reserved um ļæ½ yes for us !

User

Fantastic place decent food and cuppa priced about right.great views and staff.

4stars only because I didnā€™t stay long enough to enjoy entertainment

User

Very nice Sunday carvery-a bit chaotic to begin with as we were told two days previously that we couldn't book a table until after two pm. When we arrived at one several tables were reserved and when eventually a table became vacant we were told we couldn't sit there because it was booked for 2pm....confused....i was!! Eventually got a seat and had a lovely meal BUT a big NO to having a loud jazz band playing. We had to shout to be heard!!!!!

User

Nice food, we had a selection of dishes to share but I woke up that night with flea bites on the back of my thighs! Maybe some flea spray on the cushions of the chairs would be a good idea if youā€™re a dog-friendly pub?

User

Come here regularly, itā€™s a nice atmosphere with such beautiful views. but we mainly just come for the really nice milkshakes. The food isnā€™t up to much and never really has been, the prices are very high. had the carvery once but couldnā€™t eat it as the meat was too tough and fatty, the menu is lacking drastically and could really do with more chicken dishes as it has non. Will have the wedges though as theyā€™re nice to share, but thatā€™s about it. Please update menu and make it more affordable.

User

Went there today for coffee & a cake.

Coffee very good, cake choice totalled 5 muffins ( rasberry/ white chocolate & chocolate)

The guy who served us was not interested, no smile, no eye contact & no conversation. Definately not the ' front of house' I would want for my cafe!

User

Lovely views but standards are falling. Over the recent years that we have been visiting the quality and choice of food has deteriorated. Ā£8.50 for a small piece of ciabatta with a smidgeon of guacamole and a few pieces of pepper and very limp salad was extortionate. You seem to be paying for the view rather than the quality of the establishment. A pity as it was once so much better.

User

We had a table booked yesterday for my birthday. With two small children good nights out are few and far between amd we were looking forward to enjoying the band. We often come to Sandbar as its local to us and always been one of our favorite spots. Unfortunately last night was a complete disaster. After ordering our drinks we were told that they had sold out of almost everything! The menu has already diminshed drastically this year but I expected there to be specials as usual....but there were not. Staff did reimburse us our drinks as we had no choice but to eat somewhere else as all they had were steaks and burgers! Obviously it was busy as it was a bank holiday but I would expect a well established restaurant such as this to be more prepared!! Very disappointed

User

Unfortunately we went today and were very disappointed with the food ( all our meals were cold and the curry was tasteless ) and toilets were a disgrace. We wondered if a change of management or staff had had recently occurred as we have been here many times over the years and always been impressed with both food and general welcoming ambience. We hope this was a one off ! We appreciate we could have raised the complaints whilst we were there, but we were attending our twins birthday lunch and did not wish to cause a fuss.
