The amazing sunshine for February was calling us this morning and we were forced into the local nature surrounding Belton... such a wonderful time was had by all that they were then forced to voluntarily nap this afternoon

Last night I woke up and I was all alone. I was scared and wanted my mummy. How come she sleeps with Daddy and not me. Why do I have to be alone? I get scared when I’m alone.
In the morning, I wasn’t very hungry. But dad made me cereal straight away and I didn’t want to eat it but he made me. He did aeroplanes and sang songs but I didn’t really want breakfast yet. He kept going and I got sad and cried.

Often people think that a childminder is a simple baby-sitting job... but the real definition is as follows:
As well as teaching children to learn through play, we have to recognise issues in child development, liaise with speech & language, psychologists and psychiatrists, teachers, therapists, undertake 2 year progress checks, be first aid trained, identify special or additional needs, cater for dietary and health requirements, manage complex family issues, look for signs o...f extremism and terrorism, safeguarding and child protections issues, drugs, alcohol & mental health issues, domestic violence, health and safety requirements, undertaking risk assessments, substances hazardous to health, infection control, food hygiene. To adhere to Ofsted, the Local Authority, Environmental Health and the Health Protection agency. We plan, observe and assess children based on their characteristics of effective learning, we see schemas in their play and plan appropriate next steps to ensure they are ready for their next stage of learning. We care for these children as if they are our own, we hug, we reassure, we praise, we celebrate their achievements. We ensure children learn to share, take turns, be kind, have excellent manners, socialise with their peers. We go the extra mile for parents wherever we can, we are there for them when they are experiencing difficulties, struggling to cope, when they feel there is no one there to help or listen.
But apparently all we do all day is "play"!

So had a surprise arrival last night... but a very welcome arrival of our spring learning...

Loving the cold start to the New Year... Children just love to run and play :)

Another wonderful Muddy Puddle morning at Belton House, we even had some grazing deer very close as we walked around. And of course, we had the obligatory play time in the Play Cafe - which is always a favourite for all

The deer are out at Belton for the Christmas season again.... and the real deer came to see us too....
