Thali in a silver plate! Benefits of eating from a Silver plate: Silver is free of bacteria. It is anti-bacterial. Eating food in silver plates is safe. In fact, if you boil water in silver vessels, you can get rid of the bacteria in it. Bacteria can resist even anti-biotic drugs but not silver! Wine, water and certain food materials were stored in silver containers during the olden days as this metal can keep them fresh. Silver kills microbes and resists their growth. This way, it can preserve the contents for long. #indianfood #southindianfood #thali #silverplate #eatfromsilverplate #silverplatefood #indiansilver #vegetarianrecipes #vegetarianfood #indianvegetarian #savetheplanet #vegetarian

Legend of Pani Puri: In the epic Mahabharata, a newly-wedded Draupadi returns home to be given a task by her mother-in-law Kunti. The Pandavas were on exile and Kunti wanted to test if her new daughter-in-law would be able to manage with the scarce resources. So she gave Draupadi some leftover potato vegetable and just enough wheat dough to make one puri, instructing her to make food that would satisfy the hunger of all five of her sons. It is believed that this was when the new bride invented pani puri. Impressed with her daughter-in-law’s ingenuity, Kunti blessed the dish with immortality

Visited tonight (Thursday 28th Dec.) while on a short break in London and were very glad we did. Lovely food, great atmosphere, super staff, well worth a visit. Didn't realise it was part of a chain until I looked it up on FB as it felt more like a privately owned establishment but don't let that put you off. Can highly recommend.

This is definitely going to be one of my favorite South Indian restaurants. in every way. The staff were very courteous and the owner was personally going around and making recommendations to guests. The Gobi manchurian was without food coloring and plating was unique. The falooda ice cream was superb. My dosa came out crisp and hot and the chutneys were full of flavors and this is first time I ate every bit. Don't get fooled by exterior of this restaurant, the interior is every bit modern and I fell in love with the silver looking thali (plate) that my dosa came on.

Came here during visit to London and if you are reading this review don't miss this chance to try it out . You will not regret it.

Tasty Saravana Bhavan food and staff. Bit pricier than other locations however it is in central London so quite understandable.

User

Oh This is absolutely a great restaurant. Nice food ~

Great restaurant.

User

Great food, authentic and my new west end favourite place to eat! Excellent value

User

Authentic Indian food and nice service. Ideally located for a leisurely meal during sightseeing in the heart of London !!

Usual fantastic standard of food but double the price of the Tooting restaurant. That’s Leicester Square I suppose. Will continue to pay the bus fare to Tooting. Good move though for the tourists.

This branch has only opened recently and I'm sure will improve with a bit of time. Some of the waiters were very new, but were friendly and helpful. The decor is pleasant modern Indian style with acoustics that make it possible to maintain a conversation even when the place is quite full. We went for some of the South Indian menu options and found them extremely good. The portions are substantial. If South Indian isn't your thing, then they do a fair number of other Indian dishes. We would definitely go back another time.

I’m a big fan of this chain and have visited their branches in southall, east ham, wembley etc. the prices here are not the same as the other branches, perhaps because of the location, but the prices are double! Or sometimes 2.5 times. It’s still ok if the experience will match up to the price. The waiters are a bit rude, took 20 mins to get a cup of coffee. (While in the other branches food comes within minutes of ordering). The taste was good. The presentation is better than the other branches, food comes in a leaf shaped plate and is decorated with the chutneys. Overall it’s a good place, I would go back for the food but not for service, they should definitely up their staff and get people

Who know the menu!

User

Food was ok but cant expect the taste in South india

User

Bad service, slow serving, they actually forgot us and had to ask again. This food was not my thing, but it's a matter of taste. Twice the price of other Saravanas, as I saw. Would not go again, table was also at the middle of madness.

User

The business owner is a liar and also very rude and uncouth to customers.

User

Service is extremely poor. Staff and owner not courteous at all.

User

I love saravana bhavan tooting and croydon but the service and food at this branch in Leicester square is really poor.

The waiters mixed up the orders and brought starters last and then charged for items that we hadnt ordered!

Food was ok, not the same standard as the other branches and the dosas come in ridiculously big metal plates!

Prices are also double and not realistic.

I appreciate having a veggie restaurant in the heart of the city and hate to give one star but truthfully, unless they improve things I definately won't be coming back here!

User

Food is good though service from management is very poor.
