Satay House Description

The Satay House is London's most established Malaysian resturant serving authentic Malaysian cuisine.
With the overall design concept devised and undertaken by industry leaders, Bentheim (Wagamama, Groucho Club), both floors of Satay House's 70 cover resturant exude a sleek and confident sophistication by mixing vivid block colours and smooth oak tables and leather banquettes, with Hibiscus wall reliefs and wicker chairs.

The modernisation does not detract from the original ambience and service, which remains friendly, relaxed and homely.

We are situated in Paddington nearby the Hilton Metropole. We are located on Sale Place which is just off Praed Street. The closest station is Edgware Road or Paddington station.

Without doubt one of our most favourite places to eat. Small and quaint with a nice atmosphere, but more exceptionally the food is amazing. We don’t get to go as often now but still at the top of our list.

User

What a lovely little place, staff were amazing, food beautiful and not too expensive. I was visiting family who live near this place and am so glad they knew about it

User

Very delicious food, humble and nice owner of the restaurant. Restaurant has been running for more than 40 years. Food was serve hot and fresh. Service was good too. Overall everythings marvelous. 💪🏻

User

Superb authentic Malaysian food served by friendly and knowledgable staff. This is the best Malaysian food in the U.K by far. Please open up in Manchester as it is along way for us to come.

Revisited after Nearly 10 yrs I left london, I and my good friends was there yesterday 09/04/17) to celebrate my ahermm birthday. At first we been seated on the main floor which I request to the basement bcoz I know the level of noise then i ask to change our table, no question asked we r at the right corner and able to have our conversation over our meals. So staff has change and we been hosted by sweet young girl with generous smile and friendly, to be honest she has done her self proud as upon her Malay pronounciation of menu which in Malay were superb ! Food was excellence, sambal belacan was the highlight of the meals although we really enjoyed our dinner and nothing left to waste. Well done to all staff and Chef's, We will be back again soon.

Excellent food with friendly service - what more do you need from a restaurant?

User

Bloody Marvellous curry! Thank you ladies and gents.

A hidden gem for Malaysian food. Had the pleasure of enjoying some delicious food with wonderful company at Satay House about 3 weeks ago. Would highly recommend this place

User

Nice restaurant tucked away in Sale Place. Cosy atmosphere. Amazing food especially the Kari Laksa. I wish the staff were a bit more welcoming and courteous. Didn't appreciate being told kitchen was closing more than an hour before closing time. The tables were a bit too close and crowded. We were made to wait and given a table in the corner near a staircase which led to downstairs seating which we weren't offered. I would go back for the food not the staff. Food 5 star but service a slight let down.

User

Good food, but not exceptional. Interesting dishes, nice beers. Very friendly and efficient service. A bit more pricey than I would have liked - £9 for 6 small sticks of satay?

User

Good ambience. Excellent to see a malaysian restaurant presented in a high class manner. As a malaccaian, the asam pedas can be further improved(psst - go ask the cook at malaysian hall canteen) but the shrimp sambal for the nasi lemak was marvellous. Service was good though food came later than normal. All in all, a great place for comfort home cooked food in a faraway land. Definitely, one of my favourite restaurant in London.

User

Food was amazing as always - the only reason I haven’t given you 5* is because you put single use plastic straws in all our drinks. Please consider not using single use plastic anything, straws especially are so unnecessary

User

First time ever n I am from down under where there’s heaps of awesome Malaysian restaurants that are extremely glad but I was delighted my friend brought me here. Nice looking restaurant frontage. Inside, a little cramp n congested sitting to the next table. Good food. Star was the spicy chicken & king prawns were delicious too. Chicken was so good that we had two serves. I had the Nasi goreng. It’s not fantastic as I should have simply order steamed rice to go with the sambal dishes to bring out the flavour. My friend had the Nasi campur. He was happy. Entree was chicken satay. Was ok. Overall service good. A little pricey for 2 of us we paid £77. Nevertheless, I will be back the next time I visit London again.

User

The only dish that was authentic was the nasi gorneng kampong. The goreng pisang with ice cream and the teh tarik were also good.

User

Main meals ie. Mee Goreng and kway Goreng were tasty and good amount of spice, just a little small on the portion size. However, not a good experience, staff were inattentive, minimal service. Got the satay chicken skewers, only 6 small chicken skewers, for 9 pounds!! Expected more for that price, rip off. What soured the night completely was a service charge of over 12% which was neither mentioned or visible anywhere on the menu. Will not be going back.

User

If your in a big group you will be waiting a very long time for you food, out of the dishes our table had only 2 were worth eating. First and only time I'll be eating here.
