great accommodation! been 5 months since I moved to London for my post-grad study. I love my room and Scape ambiance as well as the environment. The Scape team also friendly and very helpful. There are a lot of fantastic events, Scape has a very special promotion for students who live in Scape to see and feel the experience living the best life in London. Plus it saves a lot of money as well :D

User

The staff at the reception at Scape east (Mile End) is awesome! Especially Jessica, who is a very helpful individual who looks out for the students and is always at hand helping everyone. The staff is very friendly! And I feel like the team here is doing a great job! Kudos to Jessica. Who was always helpful with any issues I had and has been on hand for everything. And goes an extra mile to support and help you! So congrats to the Scape team on having such an amazing staff member!

Scape east has become more than a room that I stay in during my years of study abroad, it's become a home . A home with a huge family ranging from my neighbors to the people I met in the amazing events and finally the lovable personalities behind the desk who are always there to help . I love Scape East #scapeismyhome

I’ve been living at Scape Wembley for the past one year and it’s been the best experience as there were activities such as the yoga class on every Tuesday night ,table tennis, study areas, the gym and the cinema room for u to participate in whenever u want which is really amazing.

User

I’ve been living at Scape (Surrey) for almost two years and I have rebooked for a third and final year. So far Scape has been amazing for many reasons. The first reason is the super friendly staff: Matt, Fatima, Andy, Mark and Martin. I’ve also had a few booking issues and Hanna Fuller on the sales team has been really helpful. The location of Scape in Guildford is great. It’s so close to the train station, to town and the University. In addition the Scape site is quite new and modern, which I also really like. It may be one of the smallest sites but that has its advantages, as you easily get to know quite a lot of people in the building. The final reason why scape is great is that it offers quite a lot of work opportunities like WeWork and I personally got the opportunity to organize the events at Scape Surrey which really benefits my studies.

User

It's a great place to live and they have loads of student offers for events around London. One of the best things about Scape East however is Daniel. He's always so friendly and takes the time to get to know you. Thanks Daniel!

User

I stayed in scape greenwich. Great location right next to the O2, had a great social scene, was easy to walk to the local asda, north greenwich tube station and emirates airline. The rooms had everything you needed in them so if you didnt want to leave them you didnt have to. The rooms were also cosy if not a bit too hot in the summer, would recommend buying a fan or two.

User

I have been living in scape living East for 2 years and I really enjoyed this place. I had the opportunity to make new friends for life , and the best part is that it is so close to uni, and only 15 mins away from Central London

User

User

Hi!

I stayed in Scape Surrey for a whole year! It was a really good experience thanks to all the Scape members (but especially Frank our manager, Ken our maintenance guy and Nathan) who made my accommodation enjoyable. They were always there for us and dealt with every problem that came up. The only problems I had during my stay was the vacuum, because there was only one for the whole building and the laundry machines which were only two!

Thank you Scape living for the amazing experience and I hope you will provide more electric appliances next year!

User

The rooms are abit hot but ATLEAST we get free ice lollies to cool us down a little

User

Staffs are generally friendly. However, the rooms are boiling hot. I think that AC should be installed.

User

Despite my low rating, it's not a bad place to stay in. It's just that I would expect far more for the price that they are charging (£250/wk). It's located at the very heart of London. You've got easy access to transport, restaurants, shops and of course the famous landmarks. They make this even easier for you by giving you discount tickets to the London Eye, Tower of London, Madame Tussauds etc. Scape also regularly organise fun events that are either free or very cheap like parties and excursions and boat party cruises on the River Thames. They make it so much more than just a place to live in. They often give out free stuff like food, drinks and goodies. They've got a lovely, modern lounge area with comfy sofas, beanbags, pool table etc. It creates such a homely atmosphere. I really admire the design and architecture of the building. Those chinese lantern style hanging lights are gorgeous. Every facility that you could possibly want, you've got easy access to. From the gym, to the laundry room, to the study area, to the post boxes and of course, the super-fast 100MB WiFi that hardly ever has any problems.

Now, for the negatives. I know people living in far cheaper student accommodation who get free room cleaning. But Scape charge extra (on top of the dizzyingly expensive rent) for the cleaning. That too, it's organised in tariffs. The cheapest is £15 for half an hour. Then £25 for an hour etc. On one occasion, my room was quite clean, but the cleaner told me it's really messy and tried to pressure and shame me into a more expensive room clean. It's like extortion! They also need to understand that we are students who are very busy and don't have the time to do our own cleaning. On one occasion, a cleaner discarded a bag full of gadgets thinking that it was rubbish. I noticed them missing and reported it about 2 hours later, but then I was asked why I reported so late. I was eventually offered a small compensation but I declined.

People, especially staff members, come knocking and sometimes even bursting into your room, without warning, whenever they feel like it. They seem to think they can just do this! They need to remember that we are human beings with dignity who value our space and privacy and that this is like our house whilst we are here. If I randomly turned up at your house, would you like it? Other residents also manage to obtain the master key and go into other people's rooms without permission. Other residents can often be very loud and boisterous and inconsiderate. At night, they put on loud music, forgetting that this is a student accommodation, not a nightclub. A member of staff came to confront my next door neighbour who's girlfriend was screaming and he responded rudely to her and she had to pass on to the manager. In the lounge area, people (especially boys!) get very loud in the snooker table area and games room.

Staff are dismissive when you approach them for help. I had to wait 2 weeks to get my sink unblocked. The fire alarm goes off at random times, rather than at the scheduled time. On quite a few occasions, it went off at 1am in the morning, waking us all up violently from our sleep. This is dangerous because it could cause people to ignore the real alarm if there's ever a fire. The revolving doors often don't work correctly and we can't get out or in. Because of the fact that Scape is attached to QMUL, random people who are not residents come strolling in and sit in the lounge area. There is also zero security on site. Other student accommodations give residents a number to call security if they're in any trouble, but not this place. All we can do if we ever face trouble, is call the police. That said, there's hardly ever any trouble that made me fear for my safety.

I think Scape can be a great place to stay, if only they would focus on sorting out some basic issues and listening to their residents.

User

New building with a great communal area for residents to hang out or cook a meal together, not so great for studying as the study rooms have poor noise cancelling.

Rooms have shoddy workmanship due to the rushed nature of this project. Defects that cannot be fixed like leaky showers etc. Rooms are small, quoting Scape Residence Manager Sharon, a confined space that is considered cruel to keep animals in. No extractor fan to suck the air when cooking so your room smells like food for hours after. Construction that go from dusk till dawn, endless drilling and hammering.

Overall, would not recommend.

User

Most disgusting student accommodation ever. Noise from people have party in the second floor platform , can’t sleep if you live under 4 floor. People constantly smoking weed and cigarettes everyday , which you can smell it in the lift and corridor .

Also , recently got fined £25 because I left my bin outside my room which I am about to do it. But I feel very ill so I can’t do it and forgot about it . The reason is about health and safety hazard ...... and I reply the email to ask the management how and where is the fine £25 come from , because as it said it’s £10 for penalty about not doing bin correctly .

I was wondering did you guys penalise people who smokes weed , cigarettes , vomiting in the common area , making noise after 11 ?? So confusing about this place and certainly don’t recommend to anyone !! I

User

I wouldn’t even give it one star, the service here is poor, I felt like I didn’t live there most of the time because the receptionists questioned me three times about whether I lived there or not. They were cold and harsh when I wanted to alter my payment arrangements and also threatened to throw me out before the Xmas break. I left because this place made me feel so low and also the prices gosh. The building is thrown together in the cheapest fashion, but don’t worry even though the lifts hardly work the rooms get £250 touch sensitive lamps, and that’s it. Overall this place was the worst experience of my life and the prices are not even acceptable for such a shabby building and lifeless and cold service you receive while you are there. Don’t bother go somewhere else.

User

I want to give half star but the facebook didnt allow that. The fire alarm keeps on ringing even though its 12am. The fire alarm was ringing since last week,i think the staffs should have checked the problem before this horrible disturbing annoying irritating thing happen. And even though there are a lot staffs here, it is ridiculous that no one can control the fire alarm, nothing but just waiting for the engineers. I am seriously furious i cant believe this place costs 215 pounds a week. So angry. Really wanted to rest in my room peacefully........ "Sorry for any inconvience" makes me more angry. They should be truly sorry for all of the people living here.

User

Even though I had payed for the whole year, when I went home after exams and left some boxes in my room to come pick them up in summer, Scape East had thrown everything away. Awful service, would not recommend Scape to anyone.

Plus, they always have problems with booking the common kitchen, I've had several instances when more than one group of people have booked the same time and it just ruins the night for everyone.

User
