About Scarborough Caravan And Camping Site

Scarborough Camping and Caravanning Club Site

Scarborough Caravan And Camping Site Description

Near Scarborough, this site is ideal for exploring Yorkshire’s coast and moors.

Our Scarborough Club campsite lies just north of the Victorian seaside resort of the same name and is perfectly located for exploring the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast and the North York Moors National Park.

Scarborough is a large family-friendly campsite with 300 pitches. It is a spacious site with well-placed modern facility blocks. Younger campers are catered for with two play parks and a football pitch and there’s a recreation room too. There’s a small on site chippy, a well stocked shop and a dog exercise field.

From the campsite, it’s an easy walk to the town’s Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary and the North Bay beach along a pleasant cliff-top path. The site is a ten-minute walk from the Cleveland Way National Trail which hugs the North Yorkshire coast and a traffic-free cycle path passes close to the site on the way to Whitby.

West of the campsite North Riding Forest Park (or Dalby Forest as it is also known) has many waymarked trails for walkers and mountain bikers. You can go orienteering here too. Go Ape! Offers tree top adventure with ropes and zip wires or, if you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, enjoy the forest on a Segway.

Head north to Staintondale for the Shire Horse centre. Learn about the North Yorkshire coast at the Ravenscar Coastal Centre. From here it’s a three-mile beach walk to the pretty fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay. Whitby, ten miles further on, offers the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, Lifeboat Museum and Whitby Abbey. Catch a train to Grosmont, the terminus for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. This 18-mile heritage line runs across the National Park to Pickering. Jump off at Goathland (or Aidensfield for TVs Heartbeat fans).

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

we used the ready camp, which is amazing staff 5*

We stayed at the camp site for 4 nights in the middle of August. We were pitched at site 210 and it was brilliant throughout. 20 yards from the toilet and had pleasant neighbours on one of the sides. Due to being members of the club it was £30 a night for me and my 5 month old daughter.

The toilets/showers were clean and have a handy baby area.

2 minute walk to Scalby Manor pub and about 30 minutes walk into the town centre.

Buses run from outside the camp site a couple of times an hour up to about 3pm. Running back they stop at 6pm and have to walk about 1/2 mile back from down the hill which isn't too bad. Also near by is the Alphamare water park which is great if you have kids. This is the second caravan and camping club i have been to and cannot fault any part of it.

We have been members for 30 years and remember this site joining the network. We regularly use this site, it's close to all the amenities, well a short walk away, though it gets busy it's never overcrowded and who can refuse a stone house carvery right next door! Some moan about the shower blocks? There are 5 what site gives so many. All the wardens have kept this site clean and tidy with friendly always the watchword. We hope to continue coming here for many years and urge the newcomers to camping or caravanning to use this site.......it's well worth it 😀

Second visit here in the space of a few months, definitely had the weather for it...! Staff are great and friendly, facilities are fantastic and you're never far away from a toilet/shower block. Toilet/shower blocks are very clean and the site operates a staggered cleaning system so as one block is shut the rest are open. On site shop is great for the essentials and staff are at hand for any queries. The on site chippy is highly recommended, best bit of battered Cod I've had, it has indoor and outdoor seating for customers.

Overall a great site for family, couples and the single traveller (Cleveland way is approx 0.5mile from the site) I just have one request...can I have a level pitch next time...🖒

Nice staff. Good hard standing. Good bus service 9 9a to Scarborough. 5 to hour 9 9a 10past. I shower out of order in ladies can get busy. Great weather the 8 days. LOADS to do here.

User

Just spent a long weekend here & could not fault the site or staff.

Busy weekend but never felt like it was full.

Generous pitches & helpfully guided to our pitch by staff. We arrived early so plenty of choice. Great base for Scarborough & North Yorkshire coast.

Will certainly visit again.

User

User

Brilliant, staff helpful on arrival, shown to our pitch etc.. Facilities very good, showers and toilets very clean, we took our 3 yr old grand daughter and mother and baby room was great,. On site shop, although we didnt use it. Pub close by serving food, Carvery was good value, again staff friendly and helpful, Play area for children was good..Was inpressed with site and would go again.

We've been coming to this site for years sometimes the weathers been great, other times a wash out, when it's wet the pitches can be a pain due to bad drainage. Hard standing pitches, err plastic filled with soil still is not hard standing, too slippery when wet. Any one who's been to Lickpenny at Matlock, they are what I call hard standing, chemical disposal point, I'm glad I've got wheels on my cassette. Showers, love em when they are hot but they give the wife grief, never had any issues with staff always done there best. Chippy is great, now the bad news. I believe the council hold the freehold on the land and in about 10 yrs time will turn it into a park and ride site that is why no investment is going into the amenities on site. (Always something in a rumour) all said we like it. When he weather is kind....

User

Very nice place for a holiday in the camper van but we’re going to try the glamping tents next time

User

I found the staff here really helpful, had read reviews prior to visit and was a but apprehensive but I have discovered that I needn't have been at all, everything was clean I the shower/toilet blocks, will be back as can thoroughly recommend it

User

A lovely site with good facilities. Only a short walk to the sealife centre and beaches. Great having a pub next door too and straight out into the fields to walk the Cleveland Way. Only 4 star though as children's play areas could do to be updated (no swings on swing). Been before and would definitely return.

User

The shower blocks need upgrading and a more hygienic squeegee using to dry the floor instead of a dirty old mop! The staff are super helpful and friendly and the rest of the site is immaculate.....just the shower and toilet blocks let it down. It's quite a walk to the beach if you want to go surfing. Definitely not a five minute walk probably more like 30-40.

User

Upon arrival we found the site to lack organisation, comments also were made about the staff at camping and caravan club being able to see all my history when looking through their web site and sites I had looked at previous!

We were shown to our pitch, which is advertised as hard standing, but it is little more than grass field with plastic mesh in. The warden who showed us to the pitch told us very little about the site or things around us. He never mentioned the spate of robberies!

We arrived on Thursday 18th August, the very next morning we noticed the police wondering around the site, we DID ask the wardens what they were there for and they LIED to us saying they were just being community minded and walking around the local area.

Saturday night we had our awning slashed in two large places and they had broken in to our awning and went though all our bags, even the children's toys, Lucky for us we do NOT leave valuables in there so they didn't take anything, Although they have just cost us a new awning!

The wardens were no where to be found as around 10 others too had this done, they targeted tents, motor homes and caravans. some were not so lucky and had items stolen. We waited around all day Sunday for the police and SOCO/CSI to turn up and try and get prints. Whist chatting with them they did say they had incidents that happened the Tuesday night and Thursday night too then again on the Saturday night.

I feel totally let down by the site, if they had pre warmed us that this was happening we could have taken preventive measures, such as leaving lights on and curtains open in the awning to show there was nothing in there.

I feel let down by the lack of customer service from the staff at the site, as they never came over to see if we were ok. knowing we had young children with us who were by this point very frightened and didn't want to stay on this site.

There is NO security on this site, the fields are in total blackness at night time, no side lights at all. which makes every one there easy picking for the thief's. This site needs to invest in some CCTV and lighting to deter them from coming back. The fencing around the side of the site is a straight access for them to come in from the main road with out being seen.

User

The site was full and 1 shower block and toilets were shut from 3rd September And I could only find one chemical disposal point to use I asked to be close To amenities as I am disabled but it was not possible,I was going to stay a extra week but the other amenities were closing on 19th September so I left and will not be returning and it was full price for less facilities .i have been to lots of Ccc sites and never been negative but I have to be this time very disappointed

User

Sadly we agree with all of this statement, i.e. what the extra cost is for. Not a happy staff member to be seen. However the fish and chips were wonderful and the staff in there were lovely. The site was clean and well maintained but lacking atmosphere. All efforts seemed to be put into cleaning and 'doing a good job'. We never got asked if everything was ok, in fact contact was minimal throughout our stay. On our last day no pleasantries, thanks or good wishes were made at all. With one staff member serving in the shop while three others stood behind the counter chatting, they seemed put out at having to server us. Genuinely sad to say we shall not be returning.

User

The Club has failed totally to address the drainage issues at this site. A large investment is needed. It is unfortunate because the site conditions detract from the warm welcome of the friendly staff who are apologetic but powerless. It is a recognised fact that it rains in England, good drainage should be a given not a nice to have! The Club has done very nicely in the money paid in by members, let's have some of it back in the facilities.
