We did breakfast with the seals and loved it! The knowledge Hannah had was incredible and she was happy to answer all questions. She showed us all around the centre and told us all about the various animals. We didn’t feel rushed to get through the experience and were able to take all the time we needed. Would highly recommend this experience!!

Really enjoyed seeing all the animals and fish! Love the lay out it's very pretty, especially the turtle bit I loved it up there! The talks by the staff were really good and educational! I started out thinking it was over priced until i learnt just how expensive it is to home and care for these creatures so it's well worth it to me! Will bring down any spare towels I can to help with seal rescues. All the staff I spoke to were lovely and all my family had a lovely time. Got some good selfies with some residents too... flash off Ofcourse!! : )

I am on holiday from Edinburgh and I was at the Sea life Sanctuary yesterday with my mum and and friend and it was a lovely day out all the staff are really good and all the animals are looked after very well it's a very good place to visit and would recommend this to everyone to go

User

Fantastic time was had by our family for the second time this year - staff first class, exhibits fab, animal talks interesting, well priced and tasty restaurant, reasonably priced gift shop - even the cold miserable weather (both times lol) couldn’t dampen our spirits? We had a fab time- both daughters have adopted animals there, one Georgie the penguin and one Herbie the seal - so we will be back a few more times this year to visit - can’t wait, thanks for a great day out !

User

Although this place is showing some signs of its age, it is a great place to visit with kids. Staff were fantastic and the cafe was really nice.

User

Absolutely fantastic, yes tickets are expensive but it can be a full day family attraction and the money is for the care of the amazing animals/fish and conservation care. My 3yo loved getting up close to the variety of animals... seals and penguins were firm favourites, especially watching them being fed. My 6month old was completely mesmerised by the brightly coloured exotic fish and the various jellyfish tanks. We made good use of the babychange facilities which were immaculate and enjoyed a drink and lunch in the cafe - again faultless. There were various talks throughout the day, the staff were extremely knowledgeable and informative. We spoke to several members of staff who were happy to answer questions and were great at including our little girl in conversations. One member of staff - Rose(??) stood out in particular. I would highly recommend a visit, for families of all ages, we will definitely return when re-visiting Yorkshire in the future.

User

A big thumbs up from our family of 5! Sealife Centre Scarborough was great value (we booked online), fascinating, interactive and staffed with knowledgeable and really pleasant people! Our 12, 8 and 4 year olds loved the giant crabs, turtles, Carrie the Octopus and the Seals the best. I just spent the whole time going "Ooooo". The layout was great, displays were a good balance of detail and fun facts and the staff took time to answer questions, which we really appreciated. There was a continuous theme of conservation throughout and how we should/can protect these incredible creatures. There is the inevitable gift shop at the end but it isn't overbearing.. We played mini golf too, which was well set out. All in all we would come back and certainly recommend it. Thanks!

Would be 5* if it wasn't for 1 thing! Firstly, booked online and saved a packet on the door prices. Staff were amazing, and the exhibits looked great and lots of interesting facts all over for my lad to take in. Hanah (said entertainment on her badge) was amazing at the touch pool and other areas and had my 3 year old engrossed. All the way round there is information on plastic waste, and how humans are damaging habitats both with fishing and waste, which was great.

Only complaint therefore is when we got to the cafe: choice of drinks were Costa machine coffee, in single use throw away cup complete with plastic lid, plastic bottles of water, innocent fruit smoothy complete with straw, soft drinks in throw away cups... we're trying to minimise our single use products, and Chris in the cafe was amazing and went to the staff area and got us a couple of mugs to have our drinks in, what a star!

Are sea life centre going to be doing anything about the vast amounts of rubbish they must generate in their cafes?

We visited during the easter holidays. As expected it was VERY busy and at times it was a bit bottle necked. However, my daughters favourite animal are seals so she absolutely LOVED your seal rescue centre. The animal talks by the man with dreadlocks were great, very engaging, he kept my 5 year old engaged through out the entire rock pool talk (pretty impressive when any parent of a 5 year old knows what a 5 year olds attention span is like). She came away telling me lots of incredible facts about star fish and even the following day retold me the story about fishermen chopping star fish in half.

The 3 men dealing with the photos upstairs were very helpful to me and my sister ensuring we got the best deal.

The only let down was just how busy in places it was especially the cafe ! But that’s to be expected on a wet easter holiday day out.

User

The exhibits and everything about the Sea Life Centre is good, it was just the overcrowding. There were far too many people jammed into the narrow hallways, making it very claustrophobic. There were also times that we had to queue to get into any of the exhibits which was very annoying.

Also, we had to drive around the car park for about 10 minutes before we could even find a parking space.

Overall, I don’t think I would go back. Not in the school holidays anyway.

User

when our child's pram was stolen the staff wasn't helpful and the manager was worse! Did not care!

User

Totally dissatisfied with our visit today. Massively overpriced, the aquarium was absolutely freezing and incredibly loud, to the point I had to raise my voice considerably to even speak to my girlfriend who was next to me. The aquarium was incredibly dark and dingy; the exhibitions, many of which were uninformative and had spelling mistakes, were very hard to see. There were a lot of loud visitors, especially in the cafe. The food we were served was not good quality, and we had to wait so long for sub par hot chocolates (which were needed to survive the freezing temperatures in the centre) that the food was almost cold by the time our full order arrived. We could not find one of the exhibits and almost missed another due to the poor map and lay out of the routes. Frankly a very poor all round experience and we spent almost as much time in the car than we did in the exhibits. We would like a refund as this was a special visit for my girlfriend and I’s anniversary and don’t feel it was worth the price.

User

Don't waste your money people!!! Even with booking it on line. Went today withmy husband our 2 children and baby. Pulled up and was expected pay for car parking, sod that they had had enough from us so parked up on the free bit and walked down. Couldn't get round with the pushchair at all. It was so run down and people were just plain rude. I asked to use the wheel chair acess as I had my son in a pushchair but was told we was not allowed?? Lesson learnt in regards to Merlin!!
