About School Of Environmental Sciences, University Of East Anglia (Uea)

The School of Environmental Sciences is one of the longest established, largest and most fully interdisciplinary institutions of its kind in Europe.

School Of Environmental Sciences, University Of East Anglia (Uea) Description

The School of Environmental Sciences at the UEA utilises a holistic approach to teaching and research; integrating physical, chemical, biological, social and geotechnical sciences into the study of natural and human environments. A world-class experience for researchers, postgraduates and undergraduates is provided by internationally recognised academics, supported by excellent teaching and research facilities based in our collaborative research centres and groups.

Annually, the School admits around 45 taught masters students and 150 undergraduate students across degree programmes covering a range of Environmental, Geographical and Earth Sciences. In the most recent Teaching Quality Assessment, the School was awarded an ‘Excellent’ rating. In the 2013 National Student Survey, the School gained a 96% satisfaction rate; and in the latest employment figures, 88% of our undergraduates (who were available for work) found work or study within six months of leaving the institution.

The School and the Tyndall Centre employs approximately 70 faculty members, focusing on research and teaching as well as a large and diverse population of Research Fellows, Research Associates and Research Students who collectively play a pivotal role in the School's research activity.

The School’s research has had a significant and enduring public impact over the course of four decades and our work has shaped UK Government decision-making about natural capital and ecosystem services.
