Heres my initial mood board for the Bloom and Wild design competition! Full of summer bright loveliness my box design will feature lots of intricate line work, layering and pops of colour. I have taken inspiration from Burano island, Italy, which is famous for its multicoloured houses as well as its heavily detailed handmade lace. I’d like to incorporate the legend of Burano into my design and retell the story visually amongst my illustration work. When I started my uni course a million years ago I thought I was so bad at drawing that I was terrified of anyone seeing my work. I got to the point of having a big huff and wanting to quit my course in the first week. Anyway, Mam said no don’t do it so I continued and yet again she was right.. These days, I just go with my own style and don’t worry about what everyone else is doing. I’m never going to be able to make my illustrations look perfect or photographed but that’s o...kay!
