Scuba Travel Description

Guide to scuba diving around the world.

For inside information on your next diving trip plus the marine environment and diving news from around the world.

Diving photos and comment from the SCUBA Travel dive guide. Source of SCUBA News, dive site reviews, marine biology stuff. . .

We love to hear from divers around the world about their experiences, and look forward to meeting many people here.

We've been providing scuba diving information since 2000. In that year we also launched our Top Ten Dives in the World list, compiled from divers' votes. For many years the Yongala in Australia held top spot, but this year it was ousted by Blue Corner Wall in Palau. Where is the best dive site you've dived?

The Dominican Republic has drafted in 500 workers, including the military and local authority teams, to clean up tons of plastic waste being washed up on its beaches. Residents and conservationists have also joined in the clean-up and an estimated 54 tons of plastic has been cleared over the past few days. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UdkV8r0 h8

We've not long been back from the Maldives on M/Y Virgo. The dive guides, Roland, Mark and Ibu (sorry if I've misspelt) were incredible and really looked after us. We had an amazing week seeing so much sea life plus turtles (a dream come true for one of our group!) & then we had whalesharks and mantas! Although the weather wasn't great (monsoon rains) we still had an amazing week away and even had all our dive gear washed by the crew and dried in the lovely weather we had on the last couple of days. Thank you scuba travel team for yet another brilliant holiday. :-D

Just returned from the Philippines had such a good time and was so well organised! Thank you

Just returned from a land based dive trip to El Gouna in Egypt. We usually stick to liveaboards but fancied a bit of a change and what a fantastic experience it was.

The Three Corners Ocean View Hotel is set overlooking the Marina with Emperor Divers next to the hotel bar. They took care of our every need. The dive boat is in the Marina so a two minute stroll post breakfast, we visited some fantastic dive sites including some of the well known northern wrecks - Carnatic, Chrisoula K and Giannis D.

The hotel is adults only and has excellent facilities, the food which is all inclusive was it such a high standard and the choice unbelievable, I’ve never experienced and all inclusive like it. Rooms are large and well furnished and the small fee to upgrade to a sea view is worth every penny.

The GM of the hotel is very visible but not intrusive, he runs a very efficient operation and you can see he is very popular amongst his staff and guests alike. The GM even makes fresh salads for guests in the restaurant six days a week!

We had the pleasure of 5 relaxing dive days departing at 8am in the Marina and then having the fabulous restaurants and shops in walking distance and the opportunity to dream about owning one of the beautiful yachts in the harbour. Downtown El Gouna is a 5 minute Tuktuk ride away and offers more great restaurants.

Land based is a really good option to mix diving and going out, or relaxing around the choice of swimming pools.

Such a good experience we are booking to go back in October this year!

Thanks Scubatravel for the fantastic recommendation and making all of the arrangements. We are looking forward to getting booked up for October 18.

Just returned from Best of Maldives trip on Orion.

3rd to 10th December 2017.

Simply... Amazing! Amazing! Amazing!

The Boat crew were extraordinary, Gabriel Maria and Bic were perfect hosts with a great feeling around the boat always.

The team behind them were great with superb food and a great setup with everything running like clockwork.

Great fun, knowledgeable and professional. Thank You for the boat for an amazing trip.

They even changed the itinerary when the motor had a problem... And best decision ever. We went to Fish Factory.

Never seen so many rays fish and Congers in Obe place before!

The last dive was average.... With approx 50 white top sharks giving us a fly-by.

Go on Orion with Gabriel and his team and you will not regret it.

Regards

Andrew

Just got back from a wrecks and reefs tour in the northern Red Sea on Whirlwind. Fantastic week with a fantastic crew and dive guide. Scuba Travel gave 5 star service from the time of booking until we got home, if you are thinking about booking with this company then don't. Just book, you will not be disappointed!

User

Just booked the 5th trip up, everything is perfect, but the crew are spot on, if you want a bit of banter the crews normally provide!

User

Just back from the red seas relaxed with Duxy. Great holiday very well organised and great price will be using scuba travel a lot more in the future :)

User

Just back from Truk Lagoon, diving brilliant, boat first class in accommodation, food, diving briefs. But we had flights cancelled both ways, the team at Scuba Travel were brilliant. Always a voice at the end of the line even on New Year's Day. Cannot thank you guys enough for getting us home, not easy when Pope in town! Bless you all.

I may never have made a better decision than to contact Scuba Travel to inquire about a Red Sea excursion. Their access to the Tornado fleet of boats is advantageous to the hopeful diver, so I booked a week aboard the steel-hulled Mistral. The itinerary left from Marsa Alam and made a loop through the Red Sea, taking in such famous sites as Daedalus Reef and Big Brother Island. There were even emissaries from Scuba Travel aboard the ship, kicking the tires on the newer route to make sure it held up to scrutiny. This was money well spent, and all my dealings with agent Georgina Barrett reassured me that they are a confident, respected firm in the field of diving. I highly recommend using this agency if you're a UK diver, or just want easy access to world-class destinations for a fair price.

User

I have used Scuba Travel for our group trips for many years now and have always been impressed with their service. The UK team are friendly and helpful and we have had some amazing holidays. The Red Sea Liveaboards are always fun but it is their long haul trips that have really stood out. They have arranged several personalised itineries that have run totally smoothly. Very pleased with their service and look forward to many more trips in the future.

User

I have dived with Scuba Travel 6 times now and had the times of my life. Their professionalism and Red Sea fleet (where I've dived), guides and crew are unsurpassed as is their commitment to their customers. I cannot recommend them highly enough and looking forward to my next trip!

User

I had the most fantastic diving holiday with Scuba Travel on their boat Carpe Nova in the Maldives. It was my first time on a ‘Liveaboard’ - and I was travelling alone - so I was a bit nervous! I had loads of questions before I went but everyone was so helpful that by the time I went I felt confident and excited.

The boat itself is amazing! And the food incredible. All the staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough to make my trip perfect in every way.

I learnt so much about diving in that week and made some lifelong friends.

I am now booking up to go back in March and I can’t wait!!

Sue Berry.

User

I found all of the staff very friendly and informative and thanks to the crew of the Whirlwind for making our Wrecks and Reefs tour so interesting, really did enjoy the wrecks.

User

Have just come back from diving trip to Malapascua and Kasai Village, Maolboal, Cebu. Fantastic trip especially at Kasai Village the staff were so friendly and helpful throughout

User

After the best week of my life on the Red Sea over the summer, have just booked a liveaboard with Scubatravel for 4 of us....and cannot wait! Worth saying this too...the actual holiday was fantastic, but a large part of what made it so good was the planning - professionalism, good communication & great customer service from Caroline & her team at Scubatravel - they excelled themselves with every query, questions, change etc and are to be commended.

User

Very disappointed with Scuba Travel from start to finish. Poor communications, incorrect flight tickets, lost luggage (not their fault), additional charges for hire equipment, sickness amongst travellers, wrong details about paying on board for extras, arguments with hotel on last day about what we had been told was included. Just one hassle after another throughout the holiday.

As a package organised for 12 experienced divers from our club we were all left feeling disappointed with the service provided.

All in all a poorly organised trip only saved by the excellent crew on board.

User

There were issues with the trip throughout! 1. Not being told about the closure of the majority of our itinerary to the south of the Red Sea, 2. Lazy solutions to closed or unreachable dive sites (dropping us off at the nearest reef and hoping for the best), 3. Aggressive dive guide, 4. Mis-communication in terms of what was included in the package. It is such a shame that my first liveaboard was so disappointing, I will not be diving with scuba travel again.

User

The live aboard was great. Diving fantastic. Sadly our passports were stolen on the way to the airport. Hotel CCTV clearly showed my partner checking them, putting them in his hand luggage and walking to the bus. But on arrival at airport when bags were passed out of the bus, they were gone.

Anyway to cut a long story short, we phoned Scuba travel the following morning, Sunday. The guy who answered said he gathered from the rep that we'd lost our passports. Oh and could we let him know when we got back to the UK.

We had to organise everything ourselves

Hotels in Hurghada and Cairo , flights to Cairo, embassy appointments and return flights to London. Arrived home 3 days later, a lot poorer and no help at all from Scuba Travel at all. It was like they couldn't care less.

I just don't understand how a company with such a good reputation could let us down so badly.

User

My ‘Daedalus and Rocky’ trip this November was an expensive waste of time that bore no resemblance to what is advertised on Scuba Travels website. They breached their own terms and conditions by not giving us the chance to cancel with full refund when they knew that half of the scheduled stops on the itinerary were closed. They further disappointed by failing to have any poor weather plan in place and employing a lead guide who was angry and a very poor communicator. I emailed them last week with my issues and still have had no offer of explanation or any compensation. All in all a very poor show!
