We know that exercise is good for us, that's not news. However we don't always seem to make it a priority in our lives.
40% of adults in the UK are not currently meeting the recommended amount of physical activity*
If you needed some extra motivation to start penciling in your exercise classes, the article below from BBC News outlines the findings of a study showing the link between getting your recommended amount of exercise each week and the improved health of your major a...rteries.
Cardiovascular Disease causes 1/4 of all deaths in the UK* with your risk increasing as you get older. The study found that even in those aged over 60, exercising for at least 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week can help keep the arteries young and prevent stiffening.
So what are you waiting for? Get moving for your heart's sake.

What a great course. Currently in my 9th week and I've lost 1st 7lbs. I feel great but more importantly my blood sugar readings are good. I've had high blood sugar readings for years (undetected) and when they peaked at 31.6 I was hospitalised. My vision was shocking. Everything was blurry and I couldn't quench my thirst no matter what I drank! This got sorted but I still needed to lower blood sugar readings even more and lose some blubber! The OurPath course has most certainly helped me. It's made me change my lifestyle, think more about what I eat and drink but what is getting me through it is having a mentor who is always there offering support when I need it. Would recommend this course to anyone

This is my final blog and I am happy to share this

6 weeks into the program and I’ve made a few changes some for the better some not so good changes for the better I’ve changed the way I feel about myself I feel more content one of the biggest things was recognising distorted thoughts I’ve started to run again which also gives me more head space , I had already lost 3 stone but since following OurPath I’ve put on 6lbs but I am sure that in time my weight loss will get better , I have found the chat group very supportive with help comments and the OurPath team have been very helpful and professional so all in all I have totally enjoyed these first 6 weeks

User

This is an excellent program for anyone wanting to change their relationship with food and also change to a healthier lifestyle.

The program not only addresses the physical side affects of a bad diet, ie diabetes, heart problems etc, but it also goes into the psychological reasons of why we want to eat high sugar and processed foods. Each day there is an article to read which slowly introduces new ways of thinking about what we eat and how our brains try and persuade us its ok to eat rubbish. My brain tried everyone of the excuses before I started on the Our Path program. It's very easy to follow and having the help of a mentor is brilliant, any queries are answered quickly and encouragement given all the way. In my first week I gave up caffeine and stopped adding sugar to coffee. It does take some hard work, but it is such an easy and helpful program to follow I would recommend it to anyone trying to live a happy, healthier lifestyle.

User

The best thing about the Our Path program is the level of support. Firstly, your mentor is always on hand to answer questions and queries and provide useful advice, articles and encouragement. Secondly, having the peer group support, people going through the same stages, is invaluable. The diet is easier than others because it’s pretty clear what is good for you and what isn’t but there isn’t any counting, points or a lot of weighing involved; just healthy food that tastes good. It requires quite a bit of cooking with fresh ingredients but with proper meal planning this isn’t too difficult. The exercise is a little harder to fit around a busy schedule but with a little more self motivation that will eventually become part of the every day routine as well. I feel physically healthier and am losing weight at a steady, sensible rate. Thoroughly recommend.

User

OurPath is great as it’s use friendly and there’s no need to waste timing sitting in meetings to get weighed etc. Time is precious, so I weigh in when I want to!

The recipes are great and I love the fact I can eat FULL fat foods......I’ve been brainwashed/conditioned to believe fat free is how you lose weight and this is definitely not the case!

The educational aspect of this programme is great too, giving you the facts instead of telling you what to want to hear!

I would highly recommend this programme, and having tried everything going to lose weight I finally feel this is a lifestyle change I can sustain.

User

Our Path is great! I love the way there is an article every day and support when you need it. I have totally changed my way of eating and I feel good. It has helped me be in control of my eating and I make healthy choices now. I like the way it simply introduced something every day so it was not so overwhelming. And helped me to understand so many things. I totally recommend Our path to anyone who needs help and wants to totally change their lifestyle to a healthy one.

User

Most of us are in denial about why we are overweight and tired. We turn to a ‘diet’ to fix it then fall off the wagon and start the vicious cycle again parting with more money.

OurPath is a sensible and holistic approach to getting people healthier and I’m nearly 8lbs down in three weeks as a result of just eating better.

It’s not a ‘diet’ there are no yukky shakes, ready made nonsense or group weigh ins, no fussy or expensive ingredients and no calorie counting, it’s just a nutritional tidy up underpinned with helpful advice and explanations that bring to life the small changes you need to make to feel better and lose weight - nothing drastic I’d go so far as to say this is pretty easy stuff.

I chose the £30 a month for three months non-tech package as I have my own Fitbit tracker and Fitbit scales. You get group support which helps with day to day focus, access to a nutritionist firceobbly moments and strategies for nights out etc, easy to digest articles around behaviour (the thinking that keeps you from your goals, increasing physical activity).

The day to day group support is excellent for keeping you on track and I’ve never felt better.Forget all the ‘diets’ and ‘plans’ out there and use this to get yourself on track to a healthier and inevitably slimmer you, the weight will drop off at a sensible and steady rate. I think this is great.

User

It was by chance that I read about this programme as I was doing a web search to find a local slimming class. I’m not yet half way through and have lost half a stone. But it’s more than that - it’s giving me the discipline to cook more from fresh foods; increase my activity levels and understand why this lifestyle change works. There’s lots of daily support from a group of 10 who signed up at the same time as me, as well as a mentor who gives advice each day and answers our queries. We have scales and an activity tracker that sync to the app so that we can aim for targets we agreed. I know it sounds OTT but I am truly thinking this might be a life changer for me. And all through a flukey web search!

User

I'm not after a quick fix, but three weeks in, I have already begun losing weight that has been difficult to shift for years. So much so that it is already having positive effects on my overall fitness and overall well-being too. I'm an avid parkrunner and having shifted some of that weight over the last three weeks, I have already achieved a new "personal best" - the first for me in years.

User

I was dubious about trying this. After reading up on it I realised that it would help me to change my relationship with food and that's when I signed up for it. I've done slimming World etc but the weight just comes back on. Now, I eat nutritious balanced meals with no low fat this and reduced sugar that. Whole foods, fresh veg and meat. Full fat yogurt and dressings and in two weeks I've lost 5lb.the support from the group and mentor is fabulous. I'm dealing with my issues around food and I can already tell that my relationship with food is changing. I cannot recommend this enough.

User

I joined Our Path because the doctor told me I have to lose weight for surgery. I've struggled with my weight most of my life and have done WeightWatchers, Slimming World, Rosemary Conley and other diets, all with success but never managed to keep it off. I've even done an online nutrition course, and had come to understand more about what I should and shouldn't eat and why, but for some reason I still couldn't put it into practice. When I looked at the Our Path plan it pretty well summed up how I felt I should be eating. I really liked the meal plans for the first 2 weeks because I didn't have to think about meal planning as I've never been good at that, and was able to just get on with it, and now that my head is clearing the fog I can start to make my own menus and recipes. The recipe book that comes with it is great, I haven't had one thing yet that I've not liked, and when it comes to veg I am fussy! The group chat is very helpful and we all support each other through the harder times and uncertainty, and then we have our mentor who is on hand to always keep us on the straight and narrow. I think it's great value for money, what better way to spend money than achieving a healthier you.

User

I highly recommend this healthy living programme to anybody wanting to lose weight, whom like me, has battled for many years to maintain weight loss.

There is constant support and the encouragement is always positive. Easier for me than some of the other weight loss programmes because I get the support and encouragement but the weighing is done in my own home and the watch helps me keep track of my activity.

The food recommended is delicious and helps me see the benefit of cooking with fresh produce and I have cut out all processed foods and reduced my alcohol intake whilst always feeling full. I have not been hungry on this food plan.

User

I have had weight issues for over 40 years, and have lived with Type 2 Diabetes for about 20 years.

Having read some good stuff about the effects of weight loss on Diabetes, I felt that the time was right to make serious changes in my lifestyle, changes that will only be beneficial as the years progress.

This program proved to be something of a revelation to me. Since Day 2, I have not needed to use a single dose of Rapid-acting insulin, which I had been using 3 times every day after meals, and up to 60 units per day!. My daily dose of Lantus (Long-acting insulin) has dropped from 50 units to under 20, and is still reducing. This fact alone is so positive for me, that it transcends almost everything else!

I am wearing shirts and trousers that I bought 6 or more years ago, and my waist size has reduced from 42 inches To 36 inches! People comment and want to know the secret!

I have never been a great water drinker, so sometimes found 2+ litres per day a bit overwhelming, but usually succeeded. I have leaned how to overcome hunger pangs in the evenings, and so many of the hints and tips offered in the learning elements have been helpful.

Energy levels have increased noticeably, and sleep patterns appear much more stable. I will definitely continue with the Sustain program, and endeavour to lose more weight – hopefully as much again! Thank you to everyone for support and encouragement, and I hope we may be able to keep in some kind of contact.

User

I have found the information really helpful and the on-line mentor and group support is great as I would not attend a face to face group! I am at the end of week 3, have lost weight and started to walk more again. OurPath has made me re-focus on how I am living and make small but effective changes. I didn't want a diet because I want to make long term not short term changes and I think that is very attainable using this eating and living plan.

User

I am really finding OurPath helpful. The recipes are easy to follow and are all excellent. The online support from the mentor and the group is totally working for me. When I have problems someone always gives me a useful suggestion that helps me get through the block and carry on. Our mentor, Yancy, is always there and always interested and helpful. I have already started to lose weight at a good rate for the first two weeks of a diet and I am convinced I will make it through the 12 week plan slimmer and fitter and on course to reach my goals. Thank you OurPath .

User

I am halfway through week 3 of my programme. I started at 123.4 kg and am currently 115.9 kg. So for me it's great! I've been diagnosed type2 diabetes. I have numerous food allergies, so was sceptical as to whether it not I would be able to stick to the plan. The recipes are easy to adapt. You get a mentor who can give advice, plus being in a small group, you have support there too. You get daily learning, chats and targets set for the week. I have found it useful having the tracker and scales that record your weight, steps and sleep! All in all I couldn't ask for anything better.

User

I always thought my food was healthy because it had low fat (I rarely fry food) and always ate vegetables with every meal.

I also thought that missing a meal would help to lose weight, as well as eating low fat yogurt and fruit. But almost every afternoon I would have coffee with sugar and eat some Digestive Biscuits or a piece of cake.

OurPath has shown me that not eating fat is simply not enough, but by eating balanced meals three times a day, I can lose weight.

Learning to classify foods, the right amount and combination of foods, the elimination of sugar and processed foods, as well as control of carbohydrates has changed my thinking.

As OurPath has introduced these changes into my routine, it has helped me lose weight and make a healthy change in my life. It's never too late to learn.

User

Having been with OurPath for 3 weeks now, I have to say its the only diet where I have actually lost weight. There nutrition advice is great, I could eat most of the foods I liked and even some that I have never tried before. Its easy to follow, the portions sizes are fulfilling, and I find myself less hungry between meals and therefore no longer snacking. I feel as though i am now educated to make wise choices when it come to meals and as a result my health and energy are very thankful.

User

Before I started OurPath I was three stone overweight with a BMI of 32 that pushed me firmly into the obese category. As was also, what I considered before I started, a healthy eater who doesn't eat junk food so honestly I really didn't know how to lose weight. I thought I knew it all. I am absolutey ASTONISHED to find I have lost nearly two stone in weight over the last three months and I've never been really hungry once. This is not a diet (and I hate diets) it's a whole new way of eating and a holistic approach which includes healthy eating, exercise and a bit of mindfulness too. Plus you have an incredible mentor and support group. This is the best money I've ever spent in my life and I can't really recommend it more highly. I am now officially not in the obese category anymore. Still got a bit more weight to lose but I feel amazing, healthy and even more in love with food than before - and able to eat really well (and still eat quite a lot which is what I like as I love food and cooking). This is not about denial, it's about embracing health. I have loved this programme and recommend it to everyone without hesitation.

The group chat is very helpful and we all support each other through the harder times and uncertainty, and then we have our mentor who is on hand to always keep us on the straight and narrow. I think it's great value for money, what better way to spend money than achieving a healthier you.
