User

Our first time at the races,it was very cold and we didn't get a win but we had a brilliant time,we had fish and chips for dinner and they were beautiful. Came to sedgfield races as a birthday treat for my husband who was 53 on Saturday and hope to return again soon.x

User

First visit to Sedgefield yesterday. Excellent little course with friendly staff. We had one of the restaurant hospitality packages which afforded great views out over the course including the winning post. The food was v good value . Highly recommended.

User

User

Excellent racecourse.... cheap drinks and great bar service. Travel lodge around the corner and nice village with a few pubs. Well worth an overnight stay.

User

Booked a box sunday for my son's birthday! Superb - really well looked after - nothing too much trouble and great food. Thank you.

User

Amazing day out, the staff are exceptionally helpful, the food is delicious. Emma was extremely lovely, she escorted us around the course as we picked best turned out horse, presented the trophy to the wining owners and finished off with champagne. Would recommend a day out here.

User

1st time there for me and would gladly go bk defo recomend the fish cook in beef dripping not over priced either. And what a laugh with derek thompson aka tommo .also staff very helpfull and having 3 winners and no rain was a plus ïżœ

User

It was a cold but bright day at the Family fun day. Our bets came up. The horses were beautiful as ever and the food from the Fish & Chip shop was lovely.

Great day was had by all We will be back

User

Had a brill day at the Truck show yesterday , what a good crowd of people , the guys work so hard to keep the pride of there trucks , location was very accessible and they need your support next year !!! Good work everyone .

User

The atmosphere is good, however the facilities are not really. Long queues for food and drink, so you miss the race if you try and get a coffee. The loos are not useable fairly early on and the bar areas are heaving, uncomfortably so. It could do with more tea/coffee venues and maintained loos and a communal shelter area for when the weather is bad. Nice day out though overall if you are prepared to rough it a bit.

User

Sedgefiled one of the smaller venues with a big heart. Attracts seasoned and newcomers to our sport with a typical north east welcome making you want to return. I have been fortunate to be in the hospitality of the Owners & Trainers and have always been looked after very well.

User

I was there with my family who were visiting from Portsmouth. The day was ok but I thought there were too many people for the size of the venue. We were unable to relax because you were getting pushed and shoved. The fish and chips were the best I've had for a long time.

User

Boxing Day at the races was really looking forward to it a day with the family . We were in the Collins suit which looked lovely however we were cramed in like sardines no room to move at all you literally couldn't get out of your seat without disturbing the table behind . We are a family of 7 so a seat was put on end of a tresses table with no leg room at all so we played swap the seat . The meal !!!!! 5 of us ordered soup spiced it said oh my word we couldn't eat it it was so hot with chillies , the main course was fab as was the deserts . Afternoon tea followed quite quickly only served us for 5 took a while to get 7 servings in the mean time my daughters cleared the table as staff were just adding more to table and not clearing . On the plus side staff were friendly . Live a day at the races and have been to meetings before with plenty of room to move disappointed

User

Went to a wedding anniversary on 18 April 2015, the room we were in was freezing, people sat in coats & jackets it totally ruined the night, numerous people asked the staff to turn the heating on were told heating was on so its an obvious problem two star maximum

User

We have been going to sedgefield races for the last couple of years now for Cheltenham/Paddys Day unfortunately this year we were not in the same room as this was for owners/trainers, the room we got moved to had hardly any seats, a few high tables which wasn't suitable for my disabled mother, and also not enough bar staff and beer wasn't great and they ran out of Guinness again!! You would think on such a busy race day you would be more organised!! Really off putting which is a shame as we really did look forward to this day!!

User

Been going for years to the Boxing Day meeting...it's always a good atmosphere and you expect it to be packed...however having decided to take the ÂŁ25 a head entry and fish and chip package...I can only describe the experience as CRAP.....We had to que up nearly an hour and missed one race for half cooked chips and a greasy fish..Bar prices are also ridiculously high I refuse to pay overÂŁ4 for a pint of John Smiths that takes 20 mins to serve...They are just not geared up to cope with what they know is there biggest money spinner of the year..

User

We have recently dined in The Hoops Restaurant at the track and it was the worst experience we've had. The beef was chewy and awful, it took 45 minutes for our order to be taken, we were a party of 12 and we needed to be seated on 2 separate tables due to the size which I was aware of however we were treated as 2 separate tables and our courses came out at separate times. The bread rolls that should have been given to us before our soup were brought out after we had finished our starter and I had to ask for them. Even the waitress brought over 2 less than the people on our table. We paid ÂŁ5 extra per person for a viewing seat and we were located right in the corner which was a brick wall where at least 4 of us couldn't see out of the window. We were offered to be shoved upstairs in a cold private box prior to arrival however I refused due to being told the course would be reduced to 2 instead of 3 which they are now denying they said. We also didn't want to drink lager out of cans as this is all they offer upstairs. I brought all of the issues to the attention of Megan when she came around later on in the day and she brought the restaurant manager over who abruptly asked why I didn't tell him earlier. This straight away rubbed me up the wrong way and I asked him to go away. As a customer I've got every right to mention things when I choose. His approach should have been - I'm sorry to hear that you've got reason to complain and should have being apologetic. It was my husband's birthday and we have been attending the same meeting for the last 5 years and we will not be returning next year. I raised the issue with the management team the following week by email who took 3 weeks to respond and this was only after me emailing her asking for a response. Don't know why I bothered - got a dismissive response saying she'd fully investigated the matter and that the restaurant manager said he'd given a high level of service so nothing I said was taken onboard and I've indirectly been made out to be a liar.

If this is a high level of service then I wouldn't like to see a low level of service.

Management aren't interested in after care or listening to the customer - they only hear what they want to from their dishonest staff and can't fully respond to your concerns. I'm still waiting for 3 issues to be answered that I raised. I'm not expecting a response now. Their ignorance has now answered my questions and they don't deserve any more of my time and will certainly not be getting any more business from me.

User

I am currently hear for my birthday day out and afternoon tea with all my family as a present. It is horrendous they have run out of teapots, the service is shocking. They are clearly not prepared for as we were given a time slot at 13.45 and still not got our food or a cup of tea for all. Not worth the money don't book it really. Thanks Sedgefield racecourse for spoiling a nice treat for my birthday.
