Earlier this year, the former Mayor of Pendle, James Starkie, set himself a challenge – to lose weight & climb Pendle Hill by the end of his Mayoral year in May, raising money for local children who needed additional help with learning to swim.

Pendle Leisure Trust​ is backing a national breast cancer awareness campaign launched by TV's Lorraine Kelly​. The 'Change & Check' campaign encourages women to check their breasts by putting stickers on mirrors in women's changing rooms as a reminder for them to check for the symptoms of breast cancer as they are getting changed
