About Sefton Council For Voluntary Service - Cvs

Sefton Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) is an independent registered charity with a borough-wide brief to assist and support voluntary community and faith sector (VCF) activity across the Sefton metropolitan district and neighbourhood.

Sefton Council For Voluntary Service - Cvs Description

Sefton CVS is an infrastructure body providing a comprehensive range of support and development services to frontline VCF groups.

CVS promotes and advocates the active engagement of the VCF sector by facilitating networks, providing commentary and participation in national regional and local policy, and acting as the conduit between the sector and statutory partners and other public organisations.

CVS also has a development function in identifying needs and gaps working with the sector and other partners to develop solutions and services to meet them.

CVS promotes citizen engagement and, through its Volunteer Centre, provides recruitment and brokerage services for local groups and people wishing to participate in community life.

CVS works with over 1200 local VCF organisations and further information about our impact and services can be found on our website.

As part of our Autumn / Winter Training Programme Sefton CVS are excited to announce two Leadership training courses in partnership with NCVO; The CEO: Leading and Managing Change Most major change initiatives generate only lukewarm results – many fail miserably. The most common reason is that many managers don’t realise that transformation is a process, not an event. It advances through stages that build on each other and it takes time. Sefton Council are appealing for kind hearted residents to consider donating to the local authority’s annual school uniform bank. The council’s Schools & Families teams are preparing their seventeenth annual school uniform bank but are desperately short of vital good quality blazers for those pupils most in need. Swops, Sefton’s school uniform bank scheme, has been running since 2002 and continues to go from strength to strength thanks to donations from people across the borough.
