It’s 3 weeks until the October Half Term and still lots of time to book onto activities which are available.
Please find some details below of activities which may have not made it into the Short Breaks Calendar, and ones which have spaces still available.
Future Roots Farm – 30th October – for just £10pp the venue offers a great day of activities and staffing can offer some level of 1:1 support if your child / young person requires this, please call them on 01963 210703 for... more info. 10am – 2.30pm, for ages 8-18 years. Rylands Farm, Nr Sherborne (10 mins from Yeovil)
Friday 02 November 2018 Bridgwater & Taunton College ‘Multi-Sports Day’ for young people with a disability or additional need aged 14-18 years. Bridgwater Campus – Bath Road, Bridgwater, TA6 4PZ For all abilities – rounders, cricket, laser pistols, gym taster sessions, table tennis and more! 10am – 2pm, £3 per person. Bring a packed lunch. We can tailor the sessions to suit all needs, just email us (Molly or Nathan) to find out more and to book a place btcactive@btc.ac.uk.

Cardiff University are looking for people to take part in a research project. The project is looking into the effects of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) on an individual’s communication. The prequirements are as follows:
- Participant has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder - Participant is over 18 years of age - Participant is comfortable with discussing their ASD with a member of our team... - Participant is available to take part in this research during the month of October
Taking part in this case study will involve completing an anonymous questionnaire, which can be done online at the participant’s convenience.
It is optional but they would like the participant to take part in an informal interview with one of our team members, and take part in a language task or ‘game’ during this interview.
The questionnaire and the interview combined would take no more than an hour of the participant’s time, and must be completed by November 1st.

Interested in a career at the Museum?
Next year they will be hosting a Museum Futures traineeship (12 months with tax-free bursary) for 18-24 year olds with good digital skills and little or no museum experience.
They will be hosting a taster day for this role at the Somerset Heritage Centre on Friday 12 October 2018.
... Potential applicants will be able to explore what it is like working at a Museum, try some digitisation tasks and activities, and speak with staff.

Families and practitioners have told us that they would like to extend the deadline for nominations to September so that schools have the chance to nominate.
We have listened to your feedback and will be extending the deadline for our Unsung Hero nominations to 5pm Friday 14th September.
... The Engagement and Participation Team for special educational needs and disabilities in partnership with Somerset Parent Carer Forum are looking for examples of what’s working well across Somerset. We want to hear success stories for children and young people and want to celebrate those working with them. Young people and parent carers are planning an event to celebrate Somerset’s Unsung Heroes and we need you to nominate!
