About Sennen Market

One of the most popular weekly markets in Cornwall, Sennen Market offers an interesting mix of locally grown produce, fresh foodstuffs and handmade crafts.

Sennen Market Description

Established in 2010 as a Farmers Market, Sennen Market has grown over the years to both encompass and showcase the best of locally grown produce, freshly made foodstuffs and handmade arts and crafts.

Held every Tuesday throughout the year from 9am - 12noon the market regularly attracts over 700 visitors and has won several awards including Tase of the West 'Best farmers market' and Cornwall Living's 'Best Cornish Market'.

At the Market you will find between between 30 to 50 stalls run by local food growers, producers and craft makers.

Food stuffs are at the heart of the market with everything from freshly harvested seasonal crops to artisan bread that was baked that very morning. Plus you will find an array of talented makers and artists offering such diverse items as traditional wooden surfboards, quilting, jewellery and bespoke bags to name but a few of the crafts you will discover.

So whether you are looking to find local goods for your weekly shop, treats for a picnic on the beach or would just like a morning browse of some wonderful stalls Sennen Market can be found in the Community hall that lies immediately behind Sennen Village School on the main A30 to Lands End. Parking is free for Market customers and there is a cafe within the hall serving food and drink.

Its Sennen Market day tomorrow and what better way to start training for the festive feasts that are to come than with a lovely yummy bowl of freshly prepared olives from Olivers Olives... or of course you could pop one in a martini should you wish!
So come on down, 9am-12noon, and enjoy a veritable feast of the very best fresh foods that the far South West can offer.
See you there.

There are now only four Sennen Markets before Christmas, and if ever you needed four good reasons to shop locally and buy handmade this year then our little market, 9am-12noon, every Tuesday, for the next four weeks is all four, in one, in a nutshell.
But we also know that a lot of our friends are not able to visit us weekly so another one of our sellers i'd like to highlight who sells online is Caitilin who makes all manner of lovely oil cloth bags from holdalls to pencil ca...ses and make up bags to eco friendly sandwich wraps.
So if you can't make it to the market tomorrow and would like to check out Caitilin's work her website is http://www.caitilins.moonfruit.com/
But for those who are closer, we are open 9am to 12noon tomorrow, parking and entry is free.
Please shop local this Christmas and buy handmade, you know it makes sense.
P.S. CALLING OUR SELLERS... I am answering questions daily now from our market's friends upcountry wanting to buy from their favourite sellers so there is a real interest out there. If any other market sellers with online stores, or etsy stores, would like to be featured please do message me.

Its Sennen Market day tomorrow but for those who can't make it but would still like to support our sellers another popular one who sells online is Food of the Gods.
Handmade by Dal in St Just his organic raw chocolate is sugar and dairy free and made using 96% cacao from Ecuador.
As we say this Dal's delicious chocolate is available every Tuesday at Sennen Market but if you can't make it you can buy direct with free P&P from www.foodofthegods.org.uk. Absolutely perfect for s...omeones Christmas stocking I say.
For those down this way though you will find us at Sennen Market tomorrow, 9am-12noon, so please pop in and see what delights you will discover at Sennen Market this week.
P.S If any other sellers who also sell online would like their website featured in the sticky at the top of this page please message me. I need your website, a good product image and some text about you. Thanks.

Another one of our sellers, who's naturally made creams, body butters and lotions are available online and would make excellent pressies this Christmas, either as stocking fillers or why not order up a range and make a hamper up, is Mrs Lynch's Cornish Skinfood that apart from being amazingly good genuinely is made in small batches in her kitchen in Sennen.

Its only November so you do not need to panic yet about getting those Christmas cards in the post (20th December is the last date for 1st class by the way) which is good news as that gives you plenty of time to wander along to Sennen Market tomorrow morning and buy yourself some locally drawn and made cards that your friends will be delighted to receive.
Jane Ducker, Wild Duck Designs, is to be found upstairs at the market each week and as well as her own designs for sale she... also has some wonderful restored maps and prints that she found folded and torn in an old travel journal dated 1861.
So come along on Tuesday, 9am to 12noon, and see what locally produced delights you can find for yourself at Sennen Market this week.
Oh, and for those who would love to come but can't do check out Jane's etsy page where you can buy her work too. www.etsy.com/shop/WildDuckDesignsShop

Well help is at hand as our weekly fish seller, Elaine from Stevenson of Newlyn, can get a box of your favourite fishy delights, either their set boxes or one made up to your own choice, straight from Cornish waters to your table wherever you are in the UK the very next day.

MESSAGE FOR SELLERS AT SENNEN MARKET...
You may have noticed that this week's market post had a few people asking how to buy the items on line, so with Christmas coming and knowing that a great deal of our visitors live too far away to visit I am thinking it might be a nice idea to put up some posts linking to our online stores.
If any sellers want to take advantage of this, you can either do single products, in which case i will try to do more than one post for you, or just ...a one off for your website, please message me via this page.
I will need a good quality photo of your products or one of your products, a short description with price and a link to your website or etsy store. Basically I need to be able to cut and paste to make it happen as I dont have time to re-write text or edit photos..
Please note this is for Sennen Market sellers only.
Any questions see me at the market next week.
I'll leave this post up for a few days so please let others know.

Christmas is coming and here at Sennen Market many of the sellers are beginning to roll out the seasonal goodies, like these lovely locally themed cards that Ruth has on her stall.

User

Its Sennen Market tomorrow and there is bound to be a few tears as we bid adieu to Hedley and Veronica, two market stalwarts who have been with us since the very early days.
So come along tomorrow, 9am-12noon, and join us in wishing our two friends all the very best for the future.
See you there.

Its half term time, and so far its just a last little gasp of summer weather before we knuckle down to the winter to come.
But don't let all that drag you down, its holiday time and what better way than a visit to Sennen Market tomorrow morning.
Whether you are a local looking for locally grown, more ethically sourced or indeed packaging free elements for your weekly groceries, or a visitor curious to see and explore the works and goods on offer from many of the finest maker...s and artists here in West Cornwall, or little market really is a treat that should not be missed.
We are open 9am - 12noon, we are well signed off the A30 as you enter Sennen, parking is free, entry is free, so what are you waiting for... see you there!

I don't think we've ever called ourselves 'the first and last market in Cornwall', but I don't think you can argue that we are not.
So as I always explain when I get a message asking how to find the market (well signed off the A30 as you come into Sennen)... if you get to lands End you've gone too far and if you are at Lands End you haven't come far enough.
So whilst Sennen village may be small, our wonderful weekly market is anything but with around 40 local craftspeople, ar...tists, food growers and food makers all under one roof, across two floors, here every Tuesday from 9am - 12noon.
All in all well worth travelling to the ends of the land for then, or journey to the beginning of the land, just depends where you are to to begin with really. See you there, you can't miss us!

A delicious array of ‘Sweet Moments’ here this morning at Sennen Market.

What's that you say....?
Richard Bunce, the owner of Hear at Home Cornwall and a Registered Hearing Aid Dispenser (RHAD) will be at Sennen market on Tuesday 9th October offering fre no obligation hearing tests.
Richard has many years experience of helping patients gain better hearing throughout the South West while working for national companies, the NHS, as a locum and as an independent audiologist, so this is an excellent opportunity to pop in and see him to discuss your hearing needs.

Leaves are falling all around, autumn is in the air, and best of all the trees and hedges are full of nuts, berries and fruit.
Its only October 1st, so I wont mention Christmas that much, but now is the time to be gathering and preserving for your yuletide table or if not just for the utter pleasure of an afternoon walk in the country gathering up nature's beautiful harvest.
Of course, if muddy boots and pricked fingers are not you thing, or you just can't wait to savour a ta...sty pickle or a sweet jam, the help is at hand my friends as every Tuesday at Sennen Market you will find wonderful locally made relishes, chutneys, pickles and jams to tempt your tastebuds.
Indeed, why even wait for Christmas? Simply come along tomorrow, 9am to 12noon, buy your self a loaf of freshly baked bread from Jordans Bakery, some relish from Sarah and Finns Relishes and a chunk of cheese from Mr Cheese then settle down in front of a glowing stove when darkness falls and enjoy a delicious local taste of the season to come.

Brilliant Market run by lovely friendly people. So many gorgeous things to purchase. Food and art and crafts. A must for every time we holiday in Sennen.

User

A great market with fab variety of produce & stalls with a friendly welcome from all. Teas & Coffees too. Our visitors love it as much I do.

User

Lovely market and some amazing friendly producers but hugely disappointed by a horrible vegetable store holder with a VW camper van. My two year old was very excited by all the fruit and veg and while my back was turned, getting my purse to buy strawberries from a stall he grabbed one. Only to be told by a man standing in front of the stall how rude my little one was and how some kids don't learn manners. I ignored him as i was trying to juggle said child strawberries and money only to discover after paying that the man worked or owned the stall. Needless to say i won't be shopping at that stall again.
