It's that time of year again where we are getting requests to clip/shave double coated breeds such as Huskies, Golden Retrievers and Collies. This is something we at Shampooches will NOT do as can be detrimental to the dog's health! Pictures below: first picture is a diagram showing how a de-shedding your double coat breed will keep their skin protected from the sun's harmful rays and in fact keep them cooler as by removing the dead coat you are leaving, in effect a loose bl...ouse that allows the air to flow through the coat and keep the dog cool, shaving the dog will remove what's known as the guard hairs which do as the name suggests and protects the skin from the sun, so no risk of sun burn which could lead to skin cancer! The second picture shows a themo image of a Golden Retriever who has been clipped on the lower part of the body and resulting in the dog actually being much hotter for it. The third and forth pictures are of double coated breeds that have clipped and as a result developed a condition called coat funk where patches of the coat haven't grown back, this doesn't always happen, I've had many customers say they've had their dog's clipped hundreds of times and the coat has always grown back fine, double coated breeds coats go through a cycle of growing to a certain lenght and then shedding, if we clip the dog at the wrong time, the coat goes into a state of shock and will die off and not grow back, there is no way of knowing where in the cycle the coat is so it best to not clip the dog at all. Most customers also believe that clipping their double coated breed will stop them from shedding, this is not the case, the dog will still continue to shed but the hairs will just be shorter and blunt and actually more likely to get stuck in your sofas ect..... believe me, we spend most our evenings tweezing hairs out of our hands after a day at work! Sorry for the long post but I hope I have educated people and you can understand why we refuse to clip these types of breeds!

Zoe started this business and she came to our home and did our grumpy George, she was so patient with him, since then she has made a successful business. She is excellent at what she does, always does a brilliant job and i love my 2 going to her ...Highly recommend Shampooches. take a look at the pictures...

We took our husky for his first ever professional groom and were really chuffed with the result! For a dog that constantly sheds we have noticed a massive difference in his coat! Thank you very much, will we be returning!

User

We took our 13 week old Goldendoodle to Zoe this morning and we could not be happier! We can finally see our lovely boys eyes and he smells yummy! Zoe was wonderful with his hyper little self. Thank you so much!

We took Benji (lhasa apso) to Zoe after being constantly let down by our previous groomer and we wish we had gone to her from the start. The cut was the best he's ever had by far, and more importantly Benji was much more content with her than he has been with other groomers. Normally he gets very distressed and has to be muzzled, this time no muzzle was needed and he came away in a great mood. He especially loves the little bandana he was given.

Zoe was so friendly and really instilled confidence. We have already booked again and cannot recommend her highly enough.

We send our fur baby for his pampering days and he comes back happy and smelling great! No more burrs trapped in his tail and feet!

We looked for a groomer with high reviews to try and this was the first that came up. What a score! We got an appointment in less than a week, the actual grooming took less than 2 hours, our dog wasn't caged when we picked her up, and she is super soft, super cute, and super smell good. We will absolutely be back.

User

We chose Shampooches to take Dudley to after quite a bit of researching reviews online and we're so happy we did. We had to wait a while for the initial appointment because they were so busy but it was absolutely worth the wait.

Today was Dudleys first full grooming ( He was quite tatty frankly) and he was quite nervous when we dropped him off. When we picked him up he looked great, smelled great and was happily playing ball without a care in the world. Absolutely fantastic job, We've set up a rolling appointment for every 8 weeks.

Thanks very much!

Was worried about taking our 11 yr old teacup Maltese to be groomed because she's has a bunch of health issues. Her groomers in the states wouldn't wash/dry her because of her old lady heart, but Shampooches took her in without hesitation! She even trimmed her eye area extra short, which really helps when her eyes get teary. And made sure to use shampoo for sensitive skin. She smelled and looked fantastic! They were even kind enough to hold her for a few extra minutes when I got stuck on base. She was a happy pup when I picked her up and I will definitely be a repeat customer! 😊

User

Took my dog hear to day, very kind and friendly ladies excellent service for money, can not recommended enough. I shall be taking my dog back for a bath and trim.

User

Thank you so much for Lola’s groom while on her stay with the kennels ... she’s looking and feeling lovely. And I think that spa treatment for itchy skin has worked wonders... thank you so much!

User

Our golden retriever boys, Russ & Chester look amazing, thank you. They obviously loved you guys because they ‘paraded’ for me when I got home 👍🏻😍

User

My dogs were so clean and happy! One of my pups is funny with other dogs and she even got along with the resident dog. We will definitely be back :)

User

My Chloe is an elderly nervous greyhound who had lost her mate just a couple days before our visit to get her nails clipped. As expected she didn't enjoy having them done but she was treated well and the job was well done and quick. It was less traumatic (and cheaper ) than having them done at the vets and she soon cheered up once she was back home on the sofa. We shall be back when she needs doing again... thank you.

User

I just got my boy, Blue, back from Zoe. She was absolutely fabulous with him! He's a very finicky husky/mal mix and so the fact that she was able to thoroughly groom him with little fuss or protest from him sends me over the moon. She is brilliant and well educated about grooming. I will definitely use her again!

User

I decided to give Shampooches a try after hearing great things about them. I'm extremely picky when it comes to my furbaby, but Maxxwell came home looking like a brand new pup, unrecognisable. I'm extremely happy with our experience and highly recommend all the lovely ladies. Thank y'all

First class service I always use Zoe every 7 weeks

User

Can't say enough wonderful things about Zoe! My Tibetan Mastiffs have never been to a groomer in their lives and are far from easy to handle. Zoe let me hang around for their appointment, easing my nerves. More, she was so kind and patient with my dogs, despite their bad manners. She did an incredible job on both of them, I couldn't be happier!

User

Blue comes home looking like a new dog every time!

User

August 15 was the last time both my babies (Mercy and Grace) were cared for by Shampooches because we are leaving the ! Thanks again for all you do. We will miss your great services and care!
