In the 1930's, Shanghai was called the 'Paris of the Orient'. It was a city of shows, restaurants, clubs and gambling - certainly somewhere it was hard to feel lonely. People from all over the world were throwing themselves into Shanghai parties. It was these new immigrants who fuelled the fantastically opulent and innovative dinning culture in the town, a huge and varied range of different cuisines were being introduced to the city, while native food was being subsequently transformed into a taste and a style of west meets east in order to compete. Shanghai, was one of the melting pots of the gourmet world during the 1930's. Visit us now in the heart of Oxford to experience Oxfords best Chinese.

If you are coming by car, Oxford has excellent parking facilities. The closest car parking to Shanghai 30's is the Westgate carpark. Please do give us a call if you would like guidance getting to us.
The name Shanghai means ‘on the sea’ and the city lies on the east coast of China, just south of the Yangtze river.

We are almost 4 times per month. I think that says everything.
Very quaint restaurant with intimate eating areas, Chinese memorabilia catch the eye on every wall, nook and cranny. Very personal service and delicious food offered on the menu. A memorable experience. Have recommended to friends and family. Would definitely visit again.

Authentic Shanghai style cuisine in a stylish setting. Dim sum was freshly cooked and flavoursome, reasonably priced and service was good. Recommended!
