Just saying...
And...thinking that we haven't done a tour with Kemi to *Little Lagos* (aka London's Peckham) - in a while & in this weather it would be awesome! What - & where - does this heat make you think of?
Wisdom to live by! This week, seeing a play set in the Calais jungle set us thinking about what more we can do to help in the world, with the number of refugees growing all the time. We feel so grateful that we live in London, a bubble of people from all over the world living in peace. But really, this quote by Rumi is a reminder that helping others is almost the sole reason we are here. Even if we help in a small way, it would be good to overcome our usual London-y excuses of being too busy & not having enough time! Do you help others? How do you find time? Do you have any advice on how to go about it? #rumi #playhousetheatre #thejunglewestend
Russia & the football is hard to avoid! Have you noticed? To add to your cultural immersion, here are some pics taken of Russian London: the beautiful blue dome of London's Russian Orthodox Church & our favourite Russian restaurant Mari Vanna London - very delish tea & brunch :-) Also a pic of a recent read - written by Teffi, a writer fleeing Russia after the revolution. What are your favourite places, foods, books etc connected to Russia?

Do you have a favourite book shop? Discovered this tiny travel bookshop this week near London's Waterloo, full to the brim with inspiring fiction & non-fiction travel books as well as a basement cafe with cute courtyard seating serving vegan banana bread. Armchair travel at it's best!
Do you often wonder what you can do in the world to make it a better place? At SharedCity We work with people from all over the world who have come to London for many different reasons, some out of a love for this city and its opportunties, and others out of desperation. Some find London a welcoming place - and others don't. This quote hits the nail on the head about offering genuine hospitality to people who find themselves a long way from home and in difficulty #RefugeeWeek #WorldRefugeeWeek #RefugeeWeek2018
Food! One of the highlights of our Jewish history tour of the City of London for a group from Schroders. The tour ended with a talk at the beautiful 1701 Bevis Marks Synagogue (with kosher food provided by Zest from JW3). Would you agree that food is an essential part of any journey/tour/travel experience? Or is it just us being greedy?!
Reporting a rare night out! Visited a newish local vegan restaurant (the Comptoir V in Kensal Rise) last night. The flavours were incredible. Lots of Moroccan influence - with bread served in a Fez and delicately spiced tagines - but also lots of influences from the Middle East, Iran and more. Makes my mouth water thinking about it even now! Even the chocolate-hummus desert (yes, I know, what?!) was fabulous. And I'm not a vegan.
Are you vegan? Do you like vegan food? And which country's cuisine is the best for wannabe vegans?
What do you do to fit it, not to stand out? From George Osborne's Hungarian grandma who told no-one she was Jewish - to acres of debate about whether Meghan's needs to be more, or less, black to fit into her new role. I'm fascinated by this side of our mixed communities. Can we really choose who we are? Which bits of your cultural heritage do you keep and what do you discard? Do you know any other famous examples of people creating new identities to succeed?
My family has its own story. My own grandfather changed his Jewish-German sounding surname Baum to Bourne to avoid anti German hostility when he served in the British Army in the 1940s.

After a busy day yesterday, with tours of Little Italy & Jewish London I'm away from the streets of London on Hampstead Heath today with my not-so-little wolf-dog, Biscuit. It's wonderful to have so much green space so close to the city. I love it at this time of year! What do you love most about London? A Culture & history B Food from around the world C Bars & Nightlife D Shopping... E Parks & Greenery F All of the above! G None of the above
