me and my friend visited today for a indulgence day for two followed by afternoon tea. The service was excellent, best gym I have ever been in, jaccuzi and swimming pool were top class and the afternoon tea was gorgeous! I enjoyed It that much I will now consider buying a membership excellent value for money :)

What a wonderful wedding weekend at Shaw Hill. From the start of the planning with Michelle through the detailed planning with Nina to the execution of all of the plans on the day all was perfect. Whatever request we came up with was accepted and acted upon efficiently. The operations team on the day were fantastic and most importantly adaptable. You helped us to give Jenny and Rian so many memories to treasure. Thank you. Helen Lomax

We had our wedding here last week,it was the most perfect day. The staff (especially Oliver!) were fantastic and took care of everything and the food was amazing!

Visited for the fourth time on Thursday with the Groupon deal. Lovely afternoon in the pool area, relaxing in the jacuzzi and steam room and a swim. Afternoon tea was amazing, a step up from the last time we visited. Warm and tasty soup, fresh sandwiches and scrumptious cakes and scones with all the extras. Service was fantastic and the surroundings are beautiful. Can highly recommend. Thank you again.

Thankyou so much to Nina, our toastmaster and everyone else who worked really hard to make every detail of our day perfect, all our guests absolutely loved the delicious food they have not stopped complimenting how lovely it was �. Nina has been incredibly patient and worked hard despite daily updates on constant changes in the wk running up to the wedding and to those who helped facilitate the most amazing best man speech at short notice �. The toastmaster, he was brilliant from start to finish � huge thankyou to all the other staff who kept our guests happy throughout the wedding breakfast and rest of day �. Can’t ever recommend and thank you all enough �

I came here last night after winning a meal and bottle of prosecco. The food was amazing, really full of flavour and very well presented. The staff were friendly, efficient and service was with a smile. Lovely place, great food! Thank you :)

Went for afternoon tea. Very nicely presented with generously filled sandwiches (cheese, tuna and egg). Large slices of carrot cake each, Victoria sponge and small scones with pot of jam cream and strawberries. Nice tea and we had a great window seat overlooking the golf course. Pleasant and helpful staff. Just remember to ask fir a token to lift the barrier on your way out. Great couple of hours. Well done Shaw hill golf and country club !

Great start to the day very welcoming, course in good nick, but after finishing our round at 3 found that we had to wait till 6 for chef to turn up for our food,hence to say we went before that, a few sarnies were made and a few buckets of chips between 20 fellas just wasn't the same as the two course meal we had booked, avoid booking for the day and just play course and find a decent pub on way home.

We stayed on Saturday night and had Golf booked for Saturday and Sunday. Checking in was fine and we proceeded to our double 'room'. The room was by far the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in, the bed was not even a double bed, it was a three quarter size. The décor in the room was very shabby, very uninspiring. The bathroom was equally bad. Everything apart from the tv was dated.

Anyway, we tried to look past it and go to play Golf, we booked our tee time when we booked the room. When we got to the Golf Professionals shop to get a scorecard we were told that the hotel hadn't booked our tee time, fortunately we managed to get on the course at a similar time to our booking. Our Sunday tee time was not booked either, how very incompetent and disappointing. To be fair the Golf course itself was very good, no complaints there.

We finished our golf, had a few beers in the bar. Service at the bar was average as the staff had to serve at 2 separate bars.

Then onto dinner, we were on a deal where dinner was included, however when we asked our waiter what our meal allowance was he didn't have a clue how much it was (we later found out it was £25), surely the waiters should know this, how can they help anyone ordering? We had taken a birthday cake to the kitchen as one of out party was celebrating a 40th birthday, we asked them to bring it out as dessert. This also went wrong as it appeared that the staff forgot about the cake and asked us to order dessert more than once.

We then had a very rude guest pacing the corridors in the middle of the night having a conversation on their mobile whilst using the speakerphone. We phoned the porter asking for them to have a word as it was 3:30 am, the porter refused.

We tried to complain in the morning about the whole experience but was told that there is no manager on site at the weekend!

I can only compare the hotel to Fawlty Towers, the staff were terribly trained to a point where some were rude. The whole hotel is tired and needs a total makeover. I can't see a future in the industry for hotels giving this level of service.
