Sheffield Myeloma Research Team Description

Sheffield Myeloma Research Team (SMaRT) are a group of researchers and clinicians dedicated to searching for a cure to myeloma. Our aim is to develop drugs to deal with myeloma bone disease and improve the quality of life of patients with myeloma.

The group is led by Dr Andy Chantry (Senior Clinical Lecturer & Honorary Consultant), ably assisted by Dr Shelly Lawson, expert in murine models of myeloma and Dr Clive Buckle, expert molecular biologist.

We aim to tackle the big questions in myeloma and provide strong scientific evidence to rapidly translate our research and findings from bench to bedside. In this way we aim to develop new drugs that are safe and efficatious in the treatment of myeloma.

We have strong clinical links with colleagues in the Sheffield Teaching Hospital: Dr John Snowden (Consultant Haematologist) and Professor Rob Coleman, Chairman of CRUK /YCR Sheffield Cancer Research Centre.
