The gut is known as the second brain for a very good reason.
What you put in it and how you make your guts feel has a direct link to your brain via the Vagus nerve, and this has a direct effect on your brain, mood etc.
We have close to 5600 species and strains of bacteria in our gut. Each helps keep us healthy by secreting substances that assist with metabolism function. An imbalance created by frequent consumption of antibiotics, an infection/parasite or a poor diet and lif...estyle can lead to too many harmful secretions and not enough healthy ones.
The bugs in our gut are also involved in the production of neurotransmitters, which affect the way we think and feel. Our gut produces about 90 per cent of the body’s serotonin, one of our main “happy hormones”. And an imbalance of bugs leads to a disparity in neurotransmitters and may contribute to depression, anxiety or just being a bit “meh”.
Eat Clean, look after your gut, and you will notice a change in your mood.
