Sherwood Young Artists offers weekly art and craft classes for children aged 7 - 16, in Sherwood, Nottingham

Sherwood Young Artists (formally Sherwood Kid's Art Group) was first set up in 2012 with a handful of children aged 7 - 12, who had a real passion for art.
The sessions are taught by me Natasha East. I am a trained Theatre and Costume Designer and an experienced secondary school art teacher (20 years and still loving it). My daughter has a real passion for art and I tried to find a local club or class for her to join. When I didn't find anything, I decided to take the plunge and set up one myself. . . . . . . . . it was one of the best decisions I've ever made!
As the time has passed we have had a huge amount of fun drawing, painting, printing, felting, making, graffiti, performing puppet shows, yarn bombing and so much more.
The group has also grown significantly as well. We now have three group sessions on a Saturday morning for 7-11 year olds followed by an afternoon sessiom for 11-15year olds. There are three further sessions on a monday for 11-16 year old.
Sherwood Young Artists also offers the children the opportunity to take the Arts Award qualifications. These are nationally recognised awards that require the children to explore a full range of different art and craft materials and techniques, the discover different artists, cultural art and Arts organisations. It also requires the children to share their artwork. For this we have the fantastic opportunity of exhibiting our work during the annual Sherwood Arts Week Festival. The Saturday morning groups are working towards their 'Explore' Arts Award, the afternoon group in working towards their Bronze Award and the Monday groups are working towards the Bronze, Silver and Gold Arts Awards
The cost for each hour session is £6 which includes all materials. This is not a 'drop in' session, prior booking is essential and payments are made on a half termly basis.
The children never cease to amaze me. The are a bunch of the nicest, talented, enthusiastic and supportive children a teacher could ever dream to teach!
