The main purpose of Shiatsu is to maintain or (re) establish the energy balance in order to prevent or treat dysfunctions that are caused by the imbalance of that energy. According to the view of Traditional Chinese Medicine, diseases are caused by the deregulation of energy in the meridians.
O principal objetivo do Shiatsu é manter ou (re)estabelecer o equilíbrio energético, a fim de prevenir ou tratar disfunções que sejam causadas pelo desequilíbrio dessa energia. Segundo a visão da Medicina Tradicional Chinesa as doenças são originadas pela desregulação de energia nos meridianos.

In the human body there are several systems such as the circulatory system, the nervous system, the immune system etc. The network of channels called acupuncture meridians distribute the vital energy to all the body including the internal organs. Tensions, worries and stress can block this energy, like when we tighten a water hose and the flow stops flowing. The Shiatsu technique will allow this energy to flow again, bringing that vitality where it is needed. As simple as tha...t. Imagine you have a water hose but the flow is not good. Something inside the hose is preventing the flow of running water. Then you tighten that part of the hose where you think the obstruction is and stretch it slightly to "loosen" what is preventing water from flowing. This is basically Shiatsu: A sequence of "clenching" and "stretching"! ;o)
No corpo humano existem vários sistemas como o sistema circulatório, o sistema nervoso, o sistema imunológico etc. A rede de canais chamados de meridianos de acupuntura distribuem a energia vital para todos o corpo inclusive os órgãos internos. As tensões, preocupações e stress podem bloquear essa energia, como quando apertamos uma mangueira de agua e o fluxo deixa de passar. A técnica do Shiatsu vai permitir que essa energia volte a fluir levando essa vitalidade aonde ela é necessária. Tão simples quanto isso. Imagine que voce tem uma mangueira de agua mas o fluxo não está bom. Algo dentro da mangueira está impedindo o fluxo de agua de passar. Então voce aperta aquela parte da mangueira onde pensa que está a obstrução e estica ligeiramente ela para "soltar" o que esteja impedindo a agua de passar. Isto é basicamente o Shiatsu: Uma sequência de "apertadelas" e "esticadelas"! ;o)
