The Shire Oak Academy is a coeducational academy school in Walsall Wood, West Midlands, England. More recently, the name was changed to Shire Oak Academy. Originally a leading grammar school, along with many other secondary schools in the West Midlands Shire Oak became a comprehensive school in 1970, merging at the time with Walsall Wood Secondary Modern School. Beech is the current headmaster Ofsted Results 2013 Total number of pupils in 2013 was 1420. 65% of all pupils attained five GCSEs at grades A* to C including English and mathematics. 70% of pupils attained grade A* to C in English. 75% of all pupils attained grade A* to C in mathematics. 51% of pupils were entered for science (EBacc) and 82% of these attained grades A*-C.
