Shomrim London North West Community Patrol operates as "mobile neighbourhood watch" and acts as eyes and ears to the local Community & Metropolitan Police. It was founded in 2008 and continues to work very closely with the Metropolitan Police of Barnet. Patrol members are obliged to patrol the streets of Golders Green, Childs Hill, Hendon, Finchley and Temple Fortune, once a month on a Rota basis whereby Patrol Members report crime to the Metropolitan Police. The Rota ensures that at least 2 Patrol Vehicles are patrolling the area every night. Our volunteers are also on call 24hrs a day for calls which require emergency response. Members of the public can call Shomrim London NWCP and responding units will attend a scene. Our control room staff will liaise with the relevant emergency services required or on scene. Members are in radio contact, and dispatched via the central control room. Shomrim London NWCP have the capability to deal with various scenarios including the locating of missing persons and protocols are in place for full scale searches with North & North West London Shomrim working in partnership. Our volunteer patrol officers have completed joint training from the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command (SO15) in assisting to identify potential security threats and suspicious activity. Are volunteer patrol officers are also fully trained to the standard of the Security Industry Authority (SIA) and are subject to all traffic and criminal laws of England. The SIA training course covered the following mandatory units: Introduction to the Security Industry, Roles and Responsibilities, Behavioural Standards, Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety, UK Law, Arrest, Searching, Drug Awareness, Reporting, Emergencies & Fire Safety, Conflict Management, Communication Skills, Patrolling, Using Systems and other important items. Barnet Police, local Rabbinical leaders, Barnet Mayor and Councillors have thanked Shomrim London NWCP for the dedication of its volunteers and providing a valuable service in enhancing the quality of life within North West London.
