NICE are currently recruiting for lay members to be part of their new committee developing guidance for children and young people with disabilities and severe complex needs. This could be an ideal role for a supported child (or former supported child) aged 16 or over, or a parent of a supported child. You will be helping to shape national recommendations about the support that should be given to children and young people in these situations.
Lay members don't need to have a...ny clinical expertise, but instead can bring real world experience to help shape policy. NICE are looking for people with an understanding of the health and social care support that is important for children and young people with disabilities and severe complex needs. This guidance will cover children and young people from birth to 25 years with disabilities and severe complex needs.
To be eligible you should:
Have personal experience as a disabled child or young person with severe and complex needs and have received treatment and care provided by the NHS and social care services (please note that you need to be 16 and over to join this committee)
Or be a parent, relative or unpaid carer of a child or young person who has used relevant health and social care services
Or be a volunteer or employee of a relevant voluntary organisation or support group.
Meetings happen roughly 6-8 weeks every 18 months and expenses are paid. Apply via the link below before Tuesday 5th Feb

We all went to stay at the shooting stars hospice in hampton for a weekend break and we all loved it and the nurses was so good with Aniya and looked after her so well.

The team at Guildford gave us the best care and help possible. They are still supporting us after our little boy Jude passed away. We can't thank them enough.

Such a lovely place. Staff are so kind and caring.l thought it would be a sad place but it has such a calm feeling and the children are happy playing there. Love to all the families and staff there. X
