Shoreham Port Description

Shoreham Port has been in operation for over 250 years. Shoreham is a Trust Port run on commercial grounds meaning that any profit made is reinvested back into the Port or into the local community. Shoreham Port offers an extensive stevedoring service as well as a thriving leisure sector for private boat owners. Shoreham Port was awarded Eco-Port status in 2012 and continues to reduce its carbon footprint through a range of renewable energy initiatives such as solar energy and the use of eco-friendly port vehicles.

Take a look at this image captured by our Harbour Master of the Sospan Dau which can be found at our harbour entrance today. The Sospan Dau is a Dutch trailing suction hopper dredger working on Port maintenance following the recent stormy weather. The name Sospan Dau is Welsh - Sospan being the Welsh for saucepan and Dau being Welsh for two as the ship is a successor to the original vessel.
