About Shoulders 1St
For amateur rugby coaches who want to be able to examine, diagnose, assess and treat shoulder injuries pitch side.
Shoulders 1St Description
The shoulder is the most commonly injured joint in amateur rugby players and impingement of the rotator cuff muscles is the most common injury.
Its been shown that early management of the first stages of this injury can improve the chances of avoiding long-term injury. This lead to the idea of broadening the knowledge of the people who are there first, the coaches. To save time visiting A& E or a Physiotherapist, if the coach knew how to identify the extent of the injury and provide treatment, if possible, they could provide immediate injury management.
This workshop will enable coaches to:
- Identify key anatomy and impingement features of the arm and shoulder.
- Diagnose which stage of injury the player has obtained.
- Provide the necessary treatment if the injury is in its early stages.
- Allocate treatment and long-term prevention.
