A common issue with the personal training industry is how we are viewed from people on the outside.
They think that having a personal trainer is paying for someone to stand next to you while you exercise.....a rented friend basically, to ensure you do your exercise. They can’t see the value in it.
At SHPT90 we strive to change the game and provide a service which is anything but....
... Our team of high level, experienced coaches and our role is to help clients move away from the negative self body image and poor habits and focus on improving strength, performance and mindset, working with our clients to find a diet that suit their lifestyle and there goals.
We have a long term approach to developing:
⁃ Strength ⁃ Prehabilitation ⁃ Proprioception ⁃ Movement quality ⁃ Work capacity & conditioning ⁃ A diet that supports performance and the clients body composition goals. ⁃ The importance of NEAT and an active lifestyle ⁃ Technical proficiency with all major compound lifts ⁃ Technical proficiency with all accessory lifts & movements ⁃ Fun and challenging environment for training. ⁃ A positive culture that is based on developing ones best self through hard work, routine and structure.
We are not spending 10-15 mins discussing your weekend and “what you got up to” we are time specific and we have a job to get done.
Our brief is to help our clients improve and become better physically and mentally. We make sure every minute they spend with us is focused on achieving those goals.
This weeks “Performance Testing” (which is done every quarter) shows the value in what we do.

It's National Wellbeing Week!
We live in a fast paced, busy world and it's easy for our own wellbeing to fall down the list of priorities or off the radar completely!
🧺 But taking time for ourselves and to relax should be as much a part of our routine as brushing our teeth or washing our clothes!
... 🔥 Burning the candle at both ends will inevitably end in exhaustion, stress and illness which is why it's vital that we all find an outlet of some form.
🧘‍♀️🧘‍♂️ Alot of people associate the word 'wellbeing' with yoga or meditation, which are of course fantastic examples BUT it goes far beyond those 2 options.
For some, their relaxation takes the form of a HIIT class at the gym, boxing, going for a walk, reading a book, watching a film, taking a bath or even SLEEP!
So try new things until you find something you enjoy and whatever you find works for you, be sure to incorporate it into your routine frequently, don't skimp!
And if right now you are guilty of not making that time, I urge you to give a few of those ideas above a try.........starting now!

Yes, we know talking about barbecues is very optimistic at the moment, but it's important to be prepared!
Here's our top tips for keeping it healthy without compromising on taste!!
1) 🍗 Protein, Protein, Protein!
... The whole point of a barbecue after all! Stock up on plenty of lean sources of protein, think Chicken, Turkey and Fish as the first ports of call!
When it comes to burgers, make your own! Get down to the butcher, pick up some good quality beef or turkey mince, mix with diced onions, plenty of herbs and seasoning and voila, yummy burgers with no added rubbish!
2) 🍔 Ditch the BUNS!!!
Did you know that a single hotdog/burger bun can contain around 7g of sugar?
Forget the bread and enjoy the meat in all it's glory!!
3) 🥗 Go easy on the salad dressing!
Forget the shop bought stuff with all it's additives and make a healthy alternative using a blend of olive oil, vinegar, lemon, pinch of salt, and black pepper. Use a tablespoon at a time so you can easily track your calories.
4) 🌶 Inject plenty of flavour!!!
Experiment with creating some great homemade meat rubs, think along the lines of Smoked Paprika, Chilli, Garlic, Rosemary, Coriander, Cayenne Pepper, Vinegar, Lemon etc
Play about to find a combination that suits you and marinate your meat 24 hours beforehand for maximum impact!
5) 🍌 Swap the toasted marshmallows for fruit!
Split a banana, half and pit some peaches or whack on some pineapple rings.....the heat will caramelise the natural sugars in the fruit, resulting in a sweet treat with zero guilt!! A dash of local honey will seal the deal nicely!!

This week is Diabetes Awareness Week....
Having Diabetes shouldn't put you off exercise, quite the opposite in fact!
A good diet and regular exercise are both key components of a successful strategy to beat or manage Diabetes and even helps prevent yourself from developing it in the future.
... Studies show that both aerobic exercise and strength training can significantly affect glycemic (blood sugar) control. They also show that including both forms is more effective than doing one or the other by itself.
Vanessa is a great example of someone who has taken all the nutritional guidance and put it into practice and committed to a bespoke training programme which includes both 1-2-1 strength training and large group HIIT sessions resulting in a massive decrease in her Diabetes symptoms and a huge increase in her overall health and wellbeing!

What a week of great achievements we had last week!
⭐ Jodie Shields - fantastic result with her Biosignature Assessment. Now down to 11.8% Bodyfat and her commitment to training, daily steps and nutrition is well and truly paying off! .. ..... ⭐Paul Lawrence - down 7% in bodyfat in 2 months and solid effort put in to PT sessions! .. .. ⭐ Steve Eade absolutely smashed the weekly client challenge!! The first one he ever did he came last - major improvements have been made! .. .. ⭐ Ashfaq Hassanali - great Biosignature Result and completely focused on coming out of his religious fast sensibly with new goals to reach for! .. .. ⭐ Paul Simmonds - really stepped up his training from 2 - 3/4 sessions per week and getting super STRONG and conditioned whilst running a very successful firm AND about to take on 3 Peaks! .. .. ⭐ Our over 60s clients David & Helen Owen, Chris Stock and Belinda......showing the younger ones just how it's done....their weekly client challenge results were way up there above our younger clients! .. .. ⭐ Ross Tomlin squatted 90kg!!!
