Stayed here last night with my partner as part of our birthday celebrations and all I can say is WOW WOW WOW!! From the minute we arrived to the minute we left our experience was amazing. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Room was totally stunning with amazing views. Food was first class as were the treatments and facilities around the hotel. We are totally in love with this place and will definitely be staying again and we can't wait. We highly recommend this hotel.....totally stunning.

User

My brothers wedding there this Sunday and it was amazing ,room was great ,staff all looked happy and were helpful.

I was best man and was nervous but the guy helping us run the day was there to help us every step of the way ,couldn’t of done it with out him or his staff to help.

And the views are unbelievable, amazing place and amazing weekend spent there

My best friend and I enjoyed afternoon tea at the Golf Lodge today, as part of a Groupon offer and I cannot recommend it enough! Staff members Greg and David were very polite, friendly and quickly showed us to our table which was ready for us on arrival. The food itself was delicious, good selection of both sandwiches and cakes (the macaroons were to die for!) Thank you !

User

I can not commend the staff enough for going the extra mile last night. Due to severe weather conditions we found our selves stranded at the hotel after attending a beautiful wedding and all rooms were fully booked. In my opinion all the staff went above and beyond helping those stranded to be as warm and as comfy as possible. I was provided with a king size duvet, a pillow and even an electric radiator to keep warm. Thank for making a difficult situation warmer and comfier and the pizza was amazing

Had an amazing stay here this weekend for my boyfriends birthday - the room was beautiful and we had an amazing view the staff were so lovely on the front desk & in the spa, the restaurant was great it was fast service and we enjoyed the food and also the staff in the golf club were lovely and very helpful! We had great spa treatments and the pool was very clean and so was our room. Can't fault it

User

A massive thank you to the wedding team who seamlessly organised our big day last week. Myself and my husband have been dealing with Liz for the last 18 months who has been nothing but helpful and a massive thank you to James and Eamon who were on hand on the day to ensure everything ran smoothly - and that it did! Eamon’s professionalism has been commented upon by our guests and there was nothing he couldn’t do to help on the day. Thank you to all of you. Mr & Mrs Derbyshire

Very picturesque and beautiful surroundings of this very traditional building

Lovely welcome upon arrival and great friendly and warm hotel bar to start the afternoon off in with great food and drinks on offer with live entertainment also

Lovely evening meal once again great friendly staff

We did use spa facilities and had an excellent treatment also

Would definitely return and was told a whole makeover of the hotel is taking place in the near future which wil only enhance and make this little gem even more desirable to stay at making it s perfect 5*

User

Thank you for the best 24 hours! The location was great, the hotel was clean and tidy, the food (both breakfast and eve meal) were 10/10. I also experienced the Spa, I had a massage and a scrub. Jenna my therapist was amazing, great technique. My only slight niggle was the products, I would have preferred a less harsh more fragrant scrub, this felt a little cheap and started to hurt towards the end however that is no reflection on Jenna. All staff were very friendly. I cant wait to come back! Thankyou for making my bday special x

User

Our stay was for two nights and a Wowcher offer.

There were no hitches with the booking and we were given a very warm welcome by the the reception staff.

All staff during our stay were very friendly and efficient,

The first evenings three course meal was included and excellent as was the breakfasts, afternoon tea and other food we purchased at the hotel.

Only downside was the bar prices, £15 for a large glass of wine and a pint of beer!!!!

The house is amazing with lots of history. It was clean and tidy except in the mornings when the rooms were being cleaned, huge piles of towels thrown and left in the corridor!! All gone by the afternoon though.

Our room was in the extended part of the hotel, a little tired looking but very clean and comfortable.

Would definitely recommend Shrigley Hall. We had a wonderful time.

User

Had a wonderful stay our third visit and certainly not our last! We were lucky enough to sample the new menu which was delicious! Staff lovely and a very chilled night away! The only thing I could mention is the price of the drinks at the bar - £19.20 for a double and single gin and tonic seems completely excessive when a bottle of house wine is only £22.50- this is the reason for the 4*! I would suggest the team considered lowering the prices slightly - this would certainly mean we would have had a couple more!! Thank you Shrigley and the team 😊

User

Had a lovely 3 night break. The hotel is set in stunning grounds with amazing views over small lakes and a golf course. The rooms and leisure club are a bit tired and could do with a clean up/re-paint but the food!! The dinner menu is varied and changes daily. The food is cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. The staff were pleasant and chatty and the meals delivered professionally and at the right pace for diners. Gluten free options were available and sorted for us by a waitress who looked after us on Friday and Saturday.

User

Took advantage of a Groupon gift voucher from our children for a one night stay with Dinner Bed and Breakfast.

Went to the Bar ordered a couple of drinks for my Wife and myself.

1420 said the Barman, yes I said, thinking he was referring to the lapel badge in my coat of my old Army Regiment, the 14th/20th Kings Hussars. I thought, how very observant!

No said the Barman, £14.20p the price for two single Gin and Tonics, which I thought was extremely excessive, undeterred I added two bags of crisps which added a further £2.50 to the bill, and really took the icing off our treat.

Dinner was excellent and could not be faulted, the glass of Prosecco that was meant to be served on arrival was served with the meal and went down very well.

Our room was, clean, comfortable, and, well serviced.

After a comfortable nights sleep, it was down for Breakfast, which was self service, and we found the standard, extremely disappointing Hash browns, rock solid, as were the sausages mushrooms were hard, it goes on, big big let down!, we were expecting better things after the amazing dinner the night before.

In conclusion two things spoiled our otherwise enjoyable break, The bar prices, and that terrible Breakfast !

User

I visited with a friend in March. Our room was very dated and not very clean. The door handle was broken so the bathroom door didn’t close properly. We went to the spa where the staff just stood around talking and totally ignored us. The pool was grubby and the jacuzzi had mould around it. The floor was dirty so we went back to our room. The restaurant was brilliant, the food was fantastic. Our waitress, Mary, was lovely, very attentive and couldn’t have been nicer. My friend contacted Shrigley with our complaint after we returned home and we were offered a discount to return.

We returned yesterday and arrived just before 3pm. Upon check in we were told that there would be a bottle of prosecco in our room, as per the deal we had booked. The receptionist told my friend she would take an ‘imprint’ of her debit card but that it wouldn’t affect her bank balance. My friend questioned the £100 amount on the screen and was again told that it was only an imprint of her card. When she checked her bank it had gone on as a pending transaction. We spoke to reception who assured us it wouldn’t leave her bank, however it affected her bank balance and, so far, the money hasn’t been released back to her. We also discovered there was no prosecco in the room. I rang reception and was told we needed to go there to collect it. When I said we had been told it would be in the room the lady, who said she was from the reservations team, said she would have it sent up. Two hours after check in we still didn’t have it so went down to get it ourselves. We were put in one of the newer rooms this time, which was lovely and a huge improvement on our last visit, although was overlooking the bins and the staff smoking areas. As it was hot we had the windows open but had to close them as we could smell the cigarette smoke and the bins.

Again, the food in the restaurant was lovely, although my friend ordered fish cake which was served with mushrooms. She asked the waiter if they were wild mushrooms, which he confirmed they were. When she said she is allergic to them he went to the kitchen and returned to say they weren’t wild mushrooms. He clearly didn’t know, so had guessed initially.

Our stay, in general, was slightly better than the first one. The best part of our stay was our evening spent in the bar being served by Mary, the waitress who had served us on our previous stay, and Lewis, a new member of staff. They couldn’t have done enough for us and were both friendly and very good at their job. They were the redeeming factor in our stay, and the only reason I haven’t given the hotel a rating of 1 or 2, and the hotel is very lucky to have such good staff. Please pass on our thanks to them for helping make our evening more enjoyable.

We stayed last night on the deal £49.50 DBB,

The staff were all lovely especially the lad in the restaurant at night , credit to you! Was disappointed in the room though as lights not working on one side and room was shabby to be fair , was expecting something a lot better and the bed was very squeaky. Overall had a lovely night with great service and food but the room was a big let down , have stayed in nicer B&B rooms !

The spa/pool area is dated and a little grubby. One of the jacuzzi has dirt in the bottom It has massive potential but in it present state isn’t not great. The changing rooms are extremely grim and there was a painter painting the door when I needed to go change and this main me feel a little uncomfortable (not him personally but just a male being there) surely this task could be done when the spa was closed?

I did have some treatments though which were really great... the room was tired and a little chilly but the beautician was very good. She saved the experience for me!

I had high expectations but am left feeling a little disappointed.

User

Surprisingly, I had a lovely time with my sister here today.... mostly laughing in a ‘Basil Fawlty’ style about how disappointing the spa actually is. Vastly overpriced. Really dated steam and jacuzzi. Lockers that would make a bottom league footballer ashamed. Dirty showers ( we just didn’t bother after the pool shower ) and half the lunch menu crossed out.Treatments were ok.

Really to God, do you really think your spa is a 4 star experience?!

User

Paid for a spa day treat for my Mum’s birthday & we left feeling very disappointed. While the therapist was amazing & I would highly recommend her, the rest of the visit left a lot to be desired. The whole place looks in need of a good clean. Paint peeling off the walls & ceilings, black mould all around the female changing area & lockers that don’t lock. The pool area was muddy, I wouldn’t recommend walking bare foot. The plug in the shower didn’t work meaning the entire area flooded (not that you came out particularly clean any way). Thankfully we got the day as a deal, if I had paid full price I would have been asking for a refund. We’ve been here half a day & are only still here as we have another treatment which couldn’t be moved forwards, otherwise we would have left already despite the hour drive each way for a day. Much nicer places to spend a day in the area. Won’t be returning.

User

Myself & a friend came here the other day for a spa day to relax & unwind. On arrival we were told we were late & should of been there prior to 10am which was not advised at the time of booking. The receptionist was rather rude, no apology on their side. Therefore the treatments were cut short because of the mix up. We ordered lunch, when received was incorrect & had to be remade. From comparing this occassion to previous visits it was very disappointing & not the 5* service recieved before. I have sent an email to you regarding the above but I assume it has not been recieved as there has not been a response

User

Spa bookings lost, additional room to our suite had been double booked so left 3 of us with 1 bed to share.! They suggested putting camp beds in our suite to resolve. no water, robes etc. in the additional twin room we eventually were given. Was promised some drinks with dinner too - restaurant wasn’t told-had to ask for them. Then went to breakfast to be told wasn’t included when originally was - just serious lack of communication and follow through on customer service between departments. Sadly wouldn’t return after so many problems.
