15+ year 10 Preparation for work opportunity For our young people exams/college/employment is a time that many parents worry about but... 'Preparation is the key for our young people'
We have therefore been working hard to get some training in place to help young people and parents prepare for that transition
... This will be done by offering Preparation for work sessions We have linked with Betsy from 'Project Be' www.projectbe.co.uk and together we are starting a programme to help young people with additional needs develop skills needed to prepare for that transition
The sessions will involve putting a CV together and Interview practice through role play
It’s going to be run over 3 sessions Hatchford brook youth centre, old lode lane Solihull On the following Thursdays 27th June 4th 11th July 7.30-9.15
All of the above sessions are delivered by people that understand additional needs and its limited to 6 places
At the end of this block your son/daughter will be introduced to Lydia our 'outreach worker'. If needed Lydia will help to find a suitable volunteer placement for them to gain some work experience. It is at this point we aim to get some work mentors to help them.
If you are interested in a place for your son/daughter email vickiedawkins@signpostinclusion.org. uk Total cost to attend the sessions £30 per young person
We would also be interested in hearing from places that could offer a volunteer placement plus people that have some time to volunteer as work mentors...
This is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund
