About Simon Fell

Member of Parliament for Barrow & Furness

Simon Fell Description

Simon was born and raised in Lancashire and lives in Ulverston. His family have lived in and around Furness since the 1600s. He has been married to Pippa for 7 years and has a young daughter, Peg with another little one due any moment!

Simon is a Director at a not-for-profit organisation which works to prevent fraud and other financial crime. Simon works with law enforcement to improve the response to fraud, and partners within charities, local government, businesses and the police to help prevent the most vulnerable people in society from being preyed on by criminals. Prior to this, he worked in telecoms and also ran his own small communications business for a number of years.

Simon graduated from the University of Warwick with Honours in English Literature. Since 2009, he has been a member of the British Council's TN2020 network of future leaders. His mother, father and grandfather all worked at BAE Systems.

Simon was the prospective Parliamentary Candidate in Barrow and Furness in 2015 and 2017. Working together with his dedicated team of volunteers and the local community, this once "safe seat" for Labour has become a marginal with just a 209 vote majority. In the 2016 referendum about the UK's membership of the European Union, Simon voted for and campaigned to leave.

Simon enjoys going for a run along Ulverston canal or through Furness Abbey, taking in the festivals and nightlife that Ulverston, Barrow and Dalton have to offer (especially the Dickensian! ) with his family and keeps a pet tortoise (Herman).
