On Sat 1st September, Essex artist Helen Rubinstein will hold 2 'taster' workshops. Helen's work is wide ranging and covers everything from pencil portraits to full on mixed media. In the morning workshop, "Mixed Media", you will be able to give your imagination full rein and experiment with a variety of mediums, which might even include a touch of sparkle and glitter. This workshop runs from 10am until approx. 1pm. In the afternoon session you will be working fairly simply, with pen & wash on handmade paper by local artist, and artisan, Charles Bran (whose work we also sell at the shop). This workshop runs from 2pm until approx. 5pm. Each Session is £40 but if you book both, we will also include a free choice of hot or cold lunch.

In this 3 hour workshop you will be introduced to the delights of shrink plastic. Made for children!? I say why do children have all the fun!! Make it into card toppers, jewellery, keyrings, in fact anything you like . . . . if you can think of it, you can make it out of shrink plastic, come join the fun :) No previous experience necessary. £36 per person (includes use of tools, all materials and light refreshments). Ample free parking, disabled access, disabled toilet on-site. Due to the popularity of our workshops, pre-booking is essential. This workshop runs from 9.30am until approx. 12.30pm.

So why are we closed? We are back for our 6th year in attendance at 'Clare Priory' for their 2 day event now running for 26th years. This is a 100% Handmade only Craft fair. Boasting over 150 Stalls from Crafts to Food Stalls as well as many Crafting demonstrations this really is a... great family day out. There will also be live music and Punch and Judy show for the kiddies. Football and tennis? They have that covered too with their live screen. Park up in the village of Clare, Suffolk and use their free park and ride service where you will be taken directly to the event. We are truly looking forward to this event and meeting customers old and new and fellow stall holders. We really hope to say hello to you too, but if we don't see you we wish you a fabulous and safe weekend.

Come along & learn to make your own drum lampshade. During this workshop you will learn the skill to make your own lampshade to take home. No sewing required! All you will need to bring is your own fabric (1m wide x 50cm high). All equipment required will be available on the day for your use. A 30cm shade will be made on the day, suitable as a table or ceiling shade. Tea, coffee and cake is included in the price of £32 per person and runs from 10am to approx. 12.30pm. By popular demand we are hosting a special Needle-felting workshop where you will learn how to needle felt a dog using a wire armature. You will learn the basics of how to needle felt using different size needles, a foam pad and techniques including creating "long hair" and attaching eyes. No previous experience necessary. £49 per person (includes all tools, materials and light refreshments - tea, coffee and of course, cake!). Took a suit in for some adjustments to both the jacket and trousers... Debbi clearly knows what she is doing. Excellent service and couldn’t be happier with the result. Plus they fitted me in during the busy Prom build-up!

Simply handmade too is a hidden gem full of beautiful hand crafted goodies. There is a coffee shop with in easy reach and plenty of parking. I would highly recommend a visit.

I've received a beautiful selection of Art Cards today, along with a prize of a luxury boxed candle set. Beautifilly wrapped and fabulous quality items with a lovely warm customer service. What more could I ask? I'd highly recommend this business to anyone visiting or by mail order.

I went to a workshop on creating a Christmas Tree of Life today. I really enjoyed it & Colin Ranson has the patience of a saint lol. ��

I was pleased to see this is one of the only "hand crafted" retailers where EVERY item is created, sewn, painted etc. by an artisan known to the proprietors Colin and Debbie (seasoned crafters themselves). They won't have any imported or pre-made on their premises! Which means of course if you want individual, if you want unique gift ideas or Bespoke, this is your destination. Because they don't work on Commission with the artist designers (like so many of these co-operatives) the prices are so very reasonable too and won't be found cheaper elsewhere. From concrete and wire sculptures to cushions and glassware there's something for everyone. Not just for locals, as it's on the Essex /Suffolk border (40 mins from Chelmsford) if you fancy a day out in Suffolk. ......pop in, its wheelchair accessible as is the lovely cafe' on site too.

First time I visited today on a needle felting course and it was really good. Cake was nice too �
