Simply Sicilian was founded by Valerio Murabito and Lauren Botting , who have spent the past five years sharing their time between the UK and Sicily. Their inside experience of the culture, climate and flavour of Sicily has inspired them to bring the essence of this vibrant island back home to the UK. With access to hidden gems from the artisan specialities of the slopes of Etna, to traditionally run family businesses producing exquisite delicacies in the baking sun, Simply Sicilian is well placed to bring Sicily’s Eccellenza Mediterranea to your home!

A Word from Valerio and Lauren

Valerio: Ciao! My name is Valerio and I come from the East coast of Sicily, between the sea and the fiery Mount Etna. The Sicilian philosophy is ‘he who eats well, lives healthier and for longer’, and eating well is something we take more than pride in, it is a way of life. This passion embodies Simply Sicilian’s aim to bring delicious, ethically sourced and healthy products in the UK.

Lauren: We all know how much the Italians love their food. But it wasn’t until I lived in Sicily that I found out how much they really love their food! This is something which feels lost in the hectic day-to-day living in the UK and our products will bring some of the Sicilian enjoyment of life into your cooking.

Valerio: What makes the Sicilian cuisine so fascinating are the different flavours that have been left behind by all the populations who have dominated the island over the last 3000 years. Our philosophy boils down to pure simplicity. We owe the high quality, superior taste and freshness of our food to the strength of the sun and the fertile volcanic. This is what Sicilian dishes are all about — purposefully simple so that each ingredient can be savoured and enjoyed.

Lauren: The Mediterranean diet has been granted UNESCO World Heritage status as not only is it so engrained in culture, but it also boosts life expectancy to one of the highest in the world. Superior-quality olive oil, DOC wine, typical homemade pesto, deliciously different honey and the finest olives straight from the slopes of Mount Etna are how we bring Sicily to you.

Valerio: My family and friends are so excited that through Simply Sicilian their wonderfully unique products will make if off Sicilian soil for the first time in order to be appreciated and enjoyed by you, here in the UK.
